This is a poem by David Williamson. The poem is called My Dog and I.
My dog and I
sat beneath the sky
poaching eggs and twisting stories
we thought nothing of you
neither he nor I
we just preferred
to sit beneath the sky
My dog and I
told lies after lies
first to me than to you
we enjoyed your company for the time
but we would rather be
just sitting beneath the sky
My dog and I
sat in the corner
telling eachother horrors
we thought of you
the sights we knew
we whispered our dreams
silently in your company
the stars shone on your face
we wished for the sky again
My dog and I
we laughed about the past
rolling throughout the weeds
man we were happy than
memories tumbling about
could it get any better?
we just stood and mumbled
beneath the raining sky
My dog and I
would he turn on me
after all these years
would it be the same as yesterday
all my pains and his sorrows
knitted together we wove
a story to be held
the sky is falling on me
My dog and I
hes just an image now
heaven he holds company
mine im without
alone im terrified
where are you now?
just sitting beneath the sky
