Dissecting plants

Today in class, we dissected our plants.

A few months ago, at the beginning of the year, we planted plants. We planted corn and pinto beans. It was about September when we planted them. In September, here in Alaska, there is more sun than in December, like now, so it was easier to take care of them. The reason it's easier is because in September there is sun so you would actually want to water them and take care of them.

Today 12-16-11, we finally did something with our plants; we dissected them. In our class, first we put a newspaper on our desks, next we took our plants and dumped them carefully on our desks, then finally we took the dirt, dumped it in a bucket, and looked closely with our pocket microscopes.
What did it remind me of? The plants remind me of dried out grapes. Oh wait! Those are raisins.

Plants , Plants, Plants

Today in school we took the plants in our cups and dumped them out on newspaper.

Link had so many roots on his plants. Link had a bean pod with a couple beans in them.

My beans and corn had lots of hairy roots.

Plants Check up

Today we started checking on our plants again. My plants were already dead.

When we started taking out our plants from the cup I was taking off dirt from stems. I accidentally took one of the stems off. By now it ran out of air by now so when I was done, I started looking at the plant. It got really old. Whenever I tried to touch it, a leaf fell off. After that I got my leaves mixed up with Kristen's plants. Soon after, all my plant's leaves died. I yelled no, but I couldn't yell it out loud because I was in my classroom. It's kinda like a box but it was way different.

Back to checking my plants.

looking at plants..

Today in school we took our plants out of our cups. About the first week of school we planted them. We used sand, dirt, corn, and beans. We put the sand in the bottom, then dirt next, and finally we put the corn and beans, and mixed it all around in the cup. Our teacher put a big bucket by the table where all the plants were, and filled it with water so we could water our plants every day.

About a week later we checked on them. They were so BIG and they were pretty. Mine wasn't growing that much, and everyone else's was. We all started forgetting about them and one time I forgot to water mine for like one week.

Today we had 7 people absent, so we took our plants and then one other person's and separated the dirt and plant. I took mine and Bubblegum's plant. When I took mine out of the cup, the the roots were adapting to the cup. Everyone was coming to my desk saying, "Cool." I thought it was weird, though.

After we were finished we had to clean up our area and do other things.

under the soil

Today we took apart our plants. By saying that, I mean that we took them out of the soil and took a closer look at the roots. The plants were really interesting. Some of the roots in mine had little hairs sticking out of it. There were so many roots that they had formed around the cup. Too bad about the plants, though. We had to throw them away.

It was really cool and interesting to see what the plants were like and I hope we get to do this again. :)

My Average Future Day.

One day I was walking on the street, and all of a sudden, the asphalt turned to a spongey texture, and I fell right in!

On my way down to...to...well, on my way, I saw the most insane things.
*A chocolate milk cow
*The flag to a country named Spose
*Goldfish dancing with the color purple
*A pair of eye-glasses eating some orange grass
*A Oceanese person making a noodle dress out of water
*And a frigit bird named Frank the Frigit Bird

Once I reached my destination (wherever and whatever that was), I fell asleep.

Once I woke up, I didn't open my eyes out of habit (usually when I wake up and I open my eyes it is very bright and it hurts my eyes to look, so i scrunched then closed, tight).

Woah, I thought as I felt what I was laying on-don't worry, it was a bed, not a shark. Is this a...a...Pater-er- or a Temper-Pedic, or something-pedic bed?? It was!

I thought this was a dream, until I had my down blanket ripped off of me and I knew it wasn't.

I still didn't open my eyes as I was lifted by cold metal hands out of bed. I thought nothing of the weird mechanics that were grabbing me by the shoulders.

The hands dropped me into what I confirmed was a dressing room. I felt around (my eyes still shut because I could see the light seeping through the slits of my eyelids) and found some clothes and quickly pulled them on.

The Hands gripped me by my shoulders again and lifted me off the floor, moving me into new rooms.

I finally opened my eyes to reveal the future:
The room I was in now was all blue, but all different shades of blue.

The tables and chairs where all circular, or some weird round shape, shaped. I sat down.

There were windows (round), but I couldn't see out of them because of the black shades covering them. I started to eat the breakfast in front of me. I wasn't sure what it was. I had the texture or Cream-of-Wheat, but tasted like mango, milk, ice, cotton candy, clean cotton sheet scented candles, Pantene shampoo, and red Jell-O. I expected it to be so disgusting, but it was the most phenomenal thing I had ever tasted!

When I was good and finished, I stepped outside on the deck to reveal my new beautiful world, of year 12,457,810:)

three paragargh thing we have to write what we did this week

On what we did this week we did some work and some more work. We also did homework, not that much though. It was a fun this week (some week). We had indoor recess (also fun (some fun)). I played on computers all 30 minutes (45 min.).

All I did this week at home this very week of all the weeks was sleep, eat, school, eat & sleep. Like all the other weeks this was the most fun of all, a substitute came into our class. He was okay, fine, defined & great. He was a nice guy.

Today was a great day. It was also kind of short today. I got my work done which is great. To end this short paragraph I will say today is over bye.

EVER HEARD OF BACON CLOCK

Ever heard of a bacon clock? Well I have. Haven't you? Click this link - http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/Stories/MoreStories/New-alarm-clock.

Read this story about a kid that designed a clock without a alarm; instead he used the aroma of bacon.

Colorful Flowers

I think flowers are so beautiful. There are many different colors and many different sizes. This week we have been looking at flowers and studying them. We learned a whole lot about flowers, and one of them is how flowers travel. I learned 3 ways that a flower can travel.

  • One is that a the seeds on a dandilion can fly away when the wind blows.
  • Two is that a coconut can fall off a tree and go in the water. When it goes in the water, it floats away, and when it lands on shore, a new palm tree will grow.
  • Three is a seed on any flower can stick to an animal's fur and fall off later to grow a new flower.

Every flower is very beautiful, and flowers may not be everyone's favorite, but some insects love flowers! Take bees, for example, bees get pollen and nectar from flowers and make it into honey. Yummy! Bees give honey to larva so they can grow healthy and strong. Butterflys also need flowers for food. Butterflys eat nectar from flowers with a long tube to fit way inside the flower. Hummingbirds also eat nectar from flowers. Many other insects need flowers also.

My Freakish Pet

My first pet is a dog named Bingo. I was about six when I got him, and I didn't name him!!! My dog is a male miniature schnauzer.

My dog ran away about twenty times. One time I thought he ran away on the last day before I went to my vacation, but he was in the house.

He is a nice dog, but he is not nice to kids. I taught my dog to sit and come. My dog is my favorite and my first pet. I had other pets ahead of him, but he is the best. I've had him for about nine years now; I wonder how much is that for dog years?
