ribs
This one time I ate a lot of ribs, like the whole pack of baby back ribs. I love baby back ribs. They are very good. They are my most favorite food.
My pipe busting
When your pipes bust it's really bad because you can't use any type of water. You can't take showers, wash your hands, or use the bathroom. There are good things about that, though. You don't have to do the dishes and other things. I was really mad because I couldn't get all freshened up in the morning.
The way we figured out our pipes busted was when we were driving into my driveway, people were working across the street(construction workers). Me and my brother just sat in the car for a second. My dad went over to talk to the workers. He was asking what had happened. They told him a pipe had busted. I never had that happen to my house before, so I didn't know what was going on. My dad told me and my brother what had happened. He said there was no water working. I didn't believe him so when I was in the bathroom I turned the knob to the sink, hoping water would come out. Nothing did.
I was very mad because I was all sweaty from practice that night. I could not go to sleep without taking a shower so I went downstairs. I took a few bottles of water, filled it up in a pot, boiled it, and poured it in the bathroom. It was very hot but I didn't want to waste anymore bottles. The next morning the water was back on and it was a regular day again.
lightning
One year my parents said that we were going to take a family vacation to go visit both of my great grandmas. One of them was in California and the other was in Alabama. The first stop was at my mom's grandma's house. We call her Grandma GG. It was fun because she lived next to a water park. The next stop was at my dad's grandma's house.
One day while we were there we went to a golfcourse. It was a clear and sunny day. While we were there a storm started. We were going to stay and wait out the storm but dad told us it was time to go. The storm sounded like a lion yelling at us. When we got into the car dad buckled up my brother and we left.
We were about 10 miles out of town when the lightning started. It almost hit us. I was so scared I started to hide under my blanket in the car it was so scary when we got back to town I went straight to bed and did not com out until the next morning.
my moms car
This one time my mom's car would not start, and I had to get to school. It was bad. Me and my mom called my dad, and he could not get me. We were trying to fix it, but it would not start, and I really needed to go to school.
And so we could not get in touch with my dad, and my moms car would not start. So we just called a taxi cab, and I went to school.
Bicycle accident
Last year I went to my friend's aunt's house and I spent the night there. The next day I asked my friend if he wanted to go bicycle riding with me and he said ok. But they live on this hill so it was steep. So we started riding, but then it went really down hill, so I was going like 25 mph and I tried to stop but it didn't work so then I tried use my feet to stop.
snow can help
I love to get snow all over me. It's fun. When I do I just lay down and stay. I hop over roads. This one time I fell down on some ice and a car was coming and I jumped out of the way in time.
My favorite thing about snow is if you have white colored clothes, you blend in with it, and I do that all the time, and its fun. But one time I was playing hide and seek with my friends and it took a whole hour just to find me. I would just stay on the ground and they walked past me a lot. If I had not moved to rub my nose they would never have seen me. But I went down in time.
I love playing in the snow. If you don't, you should try it some time.
The Cabin
Three years ago my brother, some friends, and I went to a cabin. To get there we had to drive about an hour, then snowmachine for two more! I got to drive the snowmchine most of the way which was really fun, my brother didn't because he was only seven.
Once we got there we had to do chores. The boys had to get the water from the river, and the girls had to start the fire, and all of us helped unload all the gear. When all the chores were done we made dinner, played board games, and went to bed. The first day was over.
In the morning after breakfast we fed the birds the left over food. They would swoop down and eat it right out of our hands! Then my brother and I got to ride on a sled tied to a snowmachine, we both kept falling off, and off. That night we all ran bare foot in the snow to the sauna, the snow was freezing! We were all tired by then so off to bed we went.
The next morning it was time to go back home, so we packed all our gear and rode back to the cars. On the way home I slept, I had fun, but I was ready to go home.
When I went snow tubing.
It was a cold winter day. Just like any other winter day in Alaska cold and dark. My grandpa works as a pipe fitter, and works on the Alaska pipeline, so my brother and I don't get to see him a lot. That's why he's taking us snow tubing for the first time.
My grandpa took us to a place called Birch Hill. Birch Hill is a hill where you can ski and tube. They are both separate hills. The first thing we had to do was go inside this little cabin, and get this sticker that you put on your zipper so the person that is at a booth knows you want to go on the hill. What they put on the sticker is the date you went to the hill, and what you are doing like, tubing or skiing. If you're asking this question, I did too. If you're asking, Why don't you just save that sticker so you can go again and not pay for it? Well you got to remember they put the date on it! Right now you're probably thinking oh yeah duh.
When you're done getting your sticker, you get your tube and head for he booth. When you get to the booth there is somebody there. This somebody will put you on these hangers that will bring you way up the hill. It's not like the hanger that you are probably thinking of. It's really a hook that takes you up the hill because the hill is steep.
Then after having the the fun going up, you start having fun going down. When you're going down, the wind is in your face and your eyes get all watery. It's so much fun. I love bonding with my grandpa.
what went down
Last week I was playing outside and then I went down. I was playing hide and seek but I was just hiding from some people. My friend was all the way in his house and I was pretty cold but I kept moving in the snow. I was so cold but I finally got there. But I had some hot water and I had 3or4 cups of it.
I don't know why but we like crawling in the snow so we were crawling in the very white snow we saw some kids so we pretended to be in the army and just wait there and hope for the best. So some more people came. I was like oh my god, and I said if you need to move do it slowly. And I said get up on me. They started to move. We got up and started moving. My heart was cold.
SUCCESS
When I was 8 I asked my mom if I could get a violin and learn how to play. My mom said yes and got me a really pretty violin and a private tutor. My private tutor's name is Tom. He is really nice. He told me I needed a music book. The first song I learned was twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I was not aloud to be in the school orchestra because I was too young. A year passed and I was in private lessons, school orchestra and in young Native Fiddlers. I'm still playing my violin and I'm very successful. I could not be doing the violin without my mom's help. I thank them every day.
soft-ball
Last summer I played soft-ball and every game, and 5 practices, I got hit with the ball. On one practice I got hit in the back of the ribs. It hurt really bad. When the ball hit me, it made it really hard for me to breathe. I passed out, but my uncle was there.
My Trip to Anchorage
Last summer my family and I went to Anchorage for three days. On the drive down I had to sit between two of my brothers, which is not a good situation when you are known to get very bad carsick. After driving for what seemed to be days, we finally got to Anchorage.
Our plan for the first night was to stay at a cabin. It was so much fun! I stayed up watching movies, eating popcorn, and playing board games, until I was almost asleep. Then in the morning we packed up and went to go get some breakfast. After eating we went to the next place we were staying.
The next night was not so much fun, it was a camp type place and it had tons of bedrooms. Even though there lots of rooms and beds, we didn't have enough sheets, so my mom, my baby brother, and I shared a bed. Somehow during the night I ended up cramped against a wall, feet in my face, and sheets pulled off. So I had to move to the living room couch. In the morning we ate, and left to go to a hotel.
At the hotel everyone went and swam in the pool and had a nice dinner. We were all tired so we went to bed early. On the last day my mom insisted on going to the street market before we headed back to Fairbanks. The market wasn't as bad as I thought; it was actually kind of fun, but I was glad we were headed home!
Orchestra party
Today our orchestra class had an orchestra party. It was really boring. Me, Jariah, Shaylee, and Selena all played twister. And I think that was the most fun I had at that party. Some people brought board games, others brought snacks, such as oranges, chips, popcorn with chocolate and marshmallows. So that's basically what they brought. So yeah, probably the worst party ever.
Typing
I have been trying to speed up my typing lately, and it seems to be working. But I still don’t understand why the people who invented the qwerty keyboard didn’t just put the keys in alphabetical order. The way the keys are arranged it looks like they randomly dumped them on the keyboard. I could type so much faster if ‘a’ was next to ‘b’ and ‘b’ was next to ‘c’. What were they thinking! I remember in third grade when I typed with my two pointer fingers, it took forever to find anything! Computers are so complicated!
My Halloween Story
For Halloween I went trick or treating with my family and friends. I had so much fun. I got a lot of candy. We went to a place called Jillian Square. We got some candy, but not a lot there. But then we went to a place called Dion Estates. It was cool because we got a lot of candy. But my aunt, she got a lot of candy because she went to the rich people's houses. But my mom would not let me go, because I was the only kid that wanted to and my aunt had already gone. And that is my story of my HALLOWEEN! BOO!!
My Halloween
It is Halloween today. I woke up and went to school. A lot of people have costumes on. It was fun to see people's costumes.
When I got home from school I went to hockey. We played the team one year younger than us. I got the puck of the corner, put it between a guy's legs, then put it between another guy's legs, shot and scored, top shelf.
I was doing that while everyone else was trick-or-treating. It was better than trick-or-treating. When I got home there were a few more trick-or-treaters, so I passed out candy. While I was at hockey, my sister and my nephew came over. My nephew is 5 months old. He was a dragon.
Everyone left before I got home. I ate dinner and went to bed. I didn't go trick-or-treating but it was still a great Halloween.
Halloween Night
Yesterday, Halloween, I came to school knowing, or should I say thinking, I wasn't going trick-or-treating. So when I got to school everyone was asking, "What are you for Halloween?" Or, "Are you going trick-or-treating?"
Well you you wanna know what I said? I said, "I'm going to be myself because I'm not going trick-or-treating." All day that was my response to those questions. Then I got on the bus to go home. When I got home I put my stuff away and while I was doing that my aunt called me, so I went to her. She told me that my cousin and her daughter were coming to pick us up at 5:45 to go trick-or-treating. Then she told me if I didn't finish my dinner by the time they got at our house I wasn't going, so I quickly scarfed down my food and tried on the costume. It fit! Then I quickly added my own style to it and then they got there, and we went trick-or-treating. First we went to the Bentley Mall and then after that we went to Wedgewood.
Come on team you've got spirit we want to win lets hear it!
My cousin, her friend, and I were trick-or-treating. We were out trick-or-treating for about an hour and a half. We had just come to our last stop till we were going home. We knocked on the door. A man opened it. He gave us candy. Then we started to walk from the house when Morgan (my cousin's friend) looked inside and saw the man's tv. Football was on and Morgan asked, "Who is winning?"
The man said, "It's tied; nobody's winning."
Morgan asked, "Who do you want to win?"
Then the man shouted with joy, "Kansas City!" "If you root for Kansas I'll give you more candy." So we got some more candy, thanked him, and started to walk home.
When we got to my cousin's house, my mom was there. That's when I knew I had to leave. So I started up the stairs to get my stuff. Then that moment on the last step of the stairs I saw the tv. On the tv was the same football game that was on in the man's tv when I was trick-or-treating. And guess who was winning, Kansas City!
The Carnival
Yesterday, October 31,2011, there was a carnival going on, so my parents took me. We had to dress up in the best costume. My friend Cinnamon won $20.00 from it.
There were also cool stands, like a game similar to pin the tail an the donkey, except there was a poster and a plastic man with cuts and you had to put band-aides on it. So it was very hard. The cake walk was very fun because you could win a lot of muffins, so I guess you could call it a muffin walk.
There was also a game where you have to toss a ball into a fish tank. The balls always bounced off. So when my grandpa did it, he got three out of four balls into three tanks with fish in them. I had asked him if I could have one of the fish he got, and he let me.
My dad had been running a stand until the net fell off the string, but what my dad did for me was swing the net and the two hoops back and forth so it was hard to make it in. Then there was a lot more different games that were hard. It was very hard and cool.
learning how to ride a four weeler
One time my friend taught me how to ride a four wheeler. I thought it was awesome. He went down to the dump and when he came back he said, "Someone's stuck in the mud." So he said, "Get on the four wheeler."
And I said, "But I don't know how to ride a four wheeler."
Then he said, "I'll teach you. Get on." So I did, and he did teach me.
hen we left I was so excited, and at the same time scared. I was scared that I would break it, but I didn't.
My life Experience
When I was born I was seven point something pounds. That was pretty heavy for a baby.
When I was in kindergarten I meet a new friend; his name is Dangelo. Kindergarten was the funnest of all the years.
My 10th birthday. I was so happy I had my birthday at a hotel. It was so fun because we played video games forever. I was so happy to get my presents.
When I got in my bicycle accident it was horrible. I had a hole in my stomach. I had to stay in the hospital for two weeks.
When I got to go to Korea it was so fun. I finally got to see my family in Korea that everyone was talking about. But I had to go. It was really sad. I wish I could go there again.
five exciting things about my life
I have done a lot of different things in my life so far. Here are a couple I find exciting. I was born in Annapolis, Maryland. When I was five I moved to Fairbanks, Alaska. I competed in the FLL competition last year. Last year I also drove around part of the USA. This year I started sixth grade at Denali Elementary. This story tells about all of that, so READ ON.
I was born in Annapolis, Maryland. I don't remember much. Sometimes I remember things like fishing and riding in boats. I liked it there. I lived in Annapolis for five years.
I moved to Fairbanks right before I turned six. I lived at my grandma's house. Then I moved to a log cabin by the river. Now I live in a normal house by a lake. I moved a couple of times from when I was five until now.
I competed in the FLL [First Lego League] competition last year. We did good. We were the only ones to fix the broken bone. The Geek Gods got first place though. I'm going to do FLL this year and hopefully win a trophy.
Last year I drove around part of the USA. We went to Disneyland, Sea World, Mt.Rushmore, and many more. I also spent the summer in Utah. It was so cool that I got to see new places. I liked driving most of the time.
This year I started sixth grade. It is fun so far. I hope we do lots of fun stuff. Writing is okay but I like the other stuff more. Sixth grade has been fun so far.
Maria's Life Story
When I was two years old, my parents, three brothers, and I drove from Indianapolis, Indiana to North Pole, Alaska. On the way up we stopped at White Horse, that and nights when we stayed inn hotels were my favorite parts. We drove for ten days! It felt like forever, and I was carsick most of the time. My family moved into a two bedroom trailer.
I started kindergarten at Badger Elementary, my teacher's name was Mrs. Hughes. Halfway through the school year I moved to Fairbanks and finished the school year at Denali Elementary. My teachers name was Mrs. Brown. I loved living in town and I loved going to Denali.
I started playing soccer in first grade, my team's name was the Orange Panthers. I have played for five years, but my favorite team was Arctic Thunder. I play soccer a lot with my brothers. It is not always fair, but it is so much fun.
Two years later my baby brother Henry was born while I was in third grade! He was born at our house! He is now three and extremely talkative. Now I have four brothers instead of three.
In the summer 2011 I ran the Midnight Sun Run with my cousins, it took an hour and twenty-six minutes. After we finished we went and jumped in the Chena River, it was freezing! We jumped in about five times. We walked back to my house to watch the rest of the race!
OUCH
Everybody knows how it feels to get hurt, but not all for the same reasons. Some from bullies, some from bigger siblings, or even from little siblings, but that's not always the case. *sigh* Like me. I was out skateboarding with my friend on his B-Day; it was just Nick, Corey, Jason, Kenny, Jeramya, and my sister.
We went to a church and on our way I slipped and fell. If you looked carefully and in slow motion I did the Michael Jackson; it was funny until I hit the ground. I fell on my butt, with my hands hitting the ground as well. At that time it didn't hurt all that much, but after awhile it was hurting, a lot, like I had to sit down. (I sprained my wrist.) But today it doesn't hurt anymore, thankfully.
After that we went to, PIONEER PARK; it was fun until a security guard thought we were going to skate when actually we where about to leave and said, and I quote, "What are you kids doing over here. You ain't supposed to be skate boarding!"
So we said okay, and left but as we left, my sister and I really had to leave like, go home, for the night. So bye bye Nick, and everybody. The night was still young, but dark, so I told my mom and dad what happened to my wrist, because they realized I was clutching my wrist when I got home. They asked, I told them what happened and they sympathized and told me a story about a time when they hurt themselves as bad as I did. And that is a story about the time I hurt my wrist.
Stupid Dog
My Stupid Dog
One hot, beautiful, Sunday, morning Madeleine and I were at my house. We both had decided that we wanted to go on my slip and slide. We got out in my backyard and we couldn’t find my dog Summer. Mandy my other dog was there but Summer wasn't. We went inside and changed into some shorts and told my mom. Me and Madeleine went down, block after block. Then my cell rang it was my Mom, she said that she called the pound and that Summer was there.
“When can we bring her home?” I said.
“Tomorrow,” said my Mom.
“Okay, me and Madeleine are on our way back.”
And we hung up. On our way back to my house we both decided that we were going to go on my slip an slide.
"I'll race you to my house," I said.
"You're not going to win!" said Madeleine.
And we sprinted to my house into the hot, sunny afternoon.
Ouchy
This is the story of my worst injury. It’s not that bad but it's the worst I’ve ever had. I was at my friend's house when it happened. It was his birthday and all our friends were there. We were playing tag. My friend’s dad told us not to go in one room which lined the basement and had an entrance to every room in the basement. This made it the best place to escape the tagger. Even though he told us not to go in, I did in a desperate attempt to escape the tagger. If only I had listened to my friend’s dad.....
I was sprinting as fast as I could, turning corners, vaulting over objects, when suddenly I turned another average corner when BAM, there was an exercise machine with handlebars and one of them clotheslined me... in the face. Next thing I knew, I was on the floor in major pain. There was blood on the exercise machine and on the floor. My friend’s dad saw what happened and was angry, but also concerned. They thought I might need stitches but luckily I didn’t. I put gauze on it and some tissues. I almost lost my teeth in the front. I also had a bloody nose. Well, that’s my story and I hope you liked it more than I did.
Too Cold For Recess
I think recess is dumb for a cold place like Alaska. The snow gear is way too heavy! In Texas it was very hot, but there was shade under the trees and and the rock climb. There was also a picnic table with a giant metal roof over it. But you could wear shorts, short sleeve shirts, and you could run around in tennis shoes instead of being in heavy snow gear. I think there should be a program inside that has various exercise games. Most of the time people outside just talk- including me! It’s hard to exercise or do anything. (Besides football).
17 Stitches
2 days before school started in 2010 I was at my friend, Abigayle’s house. I was in her back yard with her, and we were swinging. We were in our swimsuits because it was very hot out, and we were about to jump off the swing, then run as fast as possible, and then jump off the brick ledge and into the pool. It was going to be a race. Whoever won got to make the other person do a dare of their choice.
So there we are swinging really high, and then 1…..2…..3!!!!! I jumped off. So I’m running really fast and right when I was about to jump off the ledge, “Slice!” I felt a surge of pain and saw blood and screamed right at Abigayle, who was running to see what happened. I fell into the pool, head first, (It’s a shallow pool, only 3 ft.) And ended up knocking myself out. Next thing I know I’m in the car with my mom at my side and my friend looking down on me saying, “Every thing will be o.k.”
But I remember thinking it’s not going to be o.k. I’m going to die! I was freaking out but my face stayed blank, like I couldn’t show my expressions and I remember feeling confused and dizzy.
At that very moment, I fainted for the first time in my life. I have no idea why I fainted. I woke up somewhere I wasn’t sure where I was, until I started to look around. I was in the hospital! And I was starting to feel woozy. A nurse came up to me then and said that once the meds they gave me kicked in, I wouldn’t feel a thing as they stitched me up. It was a long day as the seconds ticked by, some my family showed up and was visiting with me. But before long they were all done, and I could go home. But… they had me take some medication and walk on crutches and us a wrap for my foot for a while. After a few days, I could walk, and run, perfectly fine, like it never even happened.
My cast
I hate my cast. It is very uncomfortable because you can't scratch or play basketball with it on. It started at recess where I fell down on my arm, and I broke it. It ended my day.
I had to go to the hospital. They said it wasn't very bad, but still bad. I got to watch ESPN. When the hospital was done I went home. I didn't have a very good nights sleep. I think I missed school the day after I got my wrist helper thing. I went to school after the day I missed school, and had fun. After a time I got a blue thing on my wrist.
Now I'm where I'm at. On Wednesday I'm getting another blue thing on my wrist. I sure hope I don't get it. I want to play in the championship.
When I get the cast off I'll be happy. I've been in pain for awhile. I want the pain to go away.
Now that's why I hate my blue thing on my wrist.
Time Warp Trio
I just watched a cartoon movie of the Time Warp Trio. I didn't like the ending of it. It was a weird ending. At the start it did a sneaky thing; it made us be on the edge of our seat. It was a good start. I gave it 2 thumbs up. I used to read the Time Warp Trio books.
I didn't know Sam was a girl. It was Sam's birthday when it started. Sam looked like a boy to compete in the Olympics. Sam fooled the judges in the Discus. Sam made the score be tied 2-2 in the Olympics. The final event was wrestling. Wrestling against the undefeated that is. In the movie Sam talked seriously with the ancient philosopher. Fred or Phil didn't. The philosopher helped Sam find his weakness. Sam was versing A tough wrestler that starts with "S". During the match the crowd found out Sam was a girl not a boy. They were going to die. So was Phil and Sam. Phil or Fred was in space. They were going to die because they waitress trapped them in the doorway of the restaurant. Sam and Phil or Fred was going to die because Sam was violating the rules.
The movie was about the Olympics.
