I Love Books

The books I have been reading are the Laura Ingalls Wilder series. For some reason she just inspires me to read the next book to her series. The best book out of all the books she wrote, I thought, was "Down by the Shores of Silver Lake." It is a very fun book to read, and it sort of has mysteries. Some people love mystery books, but I prefer other types of books for me. That is why I love books.

Gaurdians of ga'hoole

I am reading a book called Guardians of Ga'hoole. It is a really good book. I would recommend this book to people who like adventure and fantasy. The book is about two owls who have been taken from their nest and were sent to St. Aegolius and they escaped.

One day they had meet an owl named Twilight, and he was captured a long time ago, but he escaped too. Then they decided that they were going to the great Ga'hoole tree. On their way they met another owl named Digger. Then they finally made it to the tree.

There, Soren meets an owl named Otulissa and she is a know-it-all. She thinks she will be picked for the navigation chaw but she was chosen for the colliering and weather chaw. Then there was a day where there was a fire and he had to go to it. Him and his class had to grab a burning coal. When he got back, Twilight and Digger were gone. Gylfie said that there was a bunch of owlets who were out of their nests and did not know where their nest was.

The Rescue

Today I read Guardians of Ga'hoole, The Rescue. It is about Soren's teacher, Ezylryb. He disappears and Soren and his friends go and try to rescue him, but they get stuck in the spirit woods. I haven't finished the book yet, but I will tell you about what part I am at. So far I am at the part where they get stuck in the spirit woods. So they're stuck in the forest woods and they have to sleep so they will have lookouts. Poot, Bubo, and Gylfie will be first lookout, and then Soren will have to be the last lookout by himself so he goes to sleep then one of the owls wakes him up and he does his shift.

The Journey

Today I read The Journey. It is the second book of Guardians of Ga'hoole. This book is about these owls that go on this journey. Their names are Soren, Gylfie, Twilight, and Digger.

My book

The book that I am reading right now is called Guardians of Ga'hoole. The book is about an owl who was pushed out of the nest by his brother. Then an owl swoops down and grabs him and he meets an owl named Gylfie. The owl takes them to St. Aegolius. That is a place were they take orphan owls.

Then soren meets his pit master and she is really nice to him. Then he has to learn how to sleep and he has to do a sleep march. He also has to go to a class that teaches him how to pick stuff out of pellets. Then him and Glyfie get locked up in a cage.

That is all I read about the book so far.

Bud Not Buddy Summary

Today we were reading a book called Bud Not Buddy. Bud meets up with his friend Bugs and they go to a cardboard village/camp. They go there because they are planning on riding the rails to somewhere where they can get a job. The camp is called "Hooverville" but Bud thinks it is called "Hooperville". The people at the camp welcome them to eat if Bud and Bugs do the dishes afterwards.

I think it is a bad idea to "ride the rails" and live in Hooverville. I have a feeling that either Bud or Bugs is going to get hurt or caught.

The Mysterious Benedict Society done

In class I'm reading a book called The Mysterious Benedict Society its about these four kids who see an ad in the newspaper saying if they were rather gifted and were looking for special opportunities, to come down to some building for special tests.

Well four kids made it and they where Stiky, Raiey, Kate, and Constance. They meet a man named Mr. Benedict and he sends them on a secret mission. I won't tell you any more but its a great book and I recommend it to all readers.

Fablehaven

Fablehaven is a great book. Kendra is one of the main characters of my book; she is 12 years old.

Seth is Kendra's 11 year old little brother. He is always trying to get in trouble. They are at their Grandpa's house because their parents are on a cruise.

Dale is the staff that helps with the beautiful garden, he is also Grandpa's nephew .Lena was a nimph, or mermade. Now she is a maid that works for Grandpa. If you would like to see what happens and what adventures will come then read this 4 book series.

Flush

Yesterday I just finished a book called Flush. It was a cool book. The setting took place in the Florida Keys. It was about this boy named Noah. He is 12 years young and his dad is in jail. His dad is in jail because,he sunk a gambling ship called the Coral Queen. He sunk the ship because he saw a guy named Dusty Muleman put his ship's sewage in the clean waters.

Noah went to go and visit his dad in jail and his dad told him to go to a guy named Lice Peeking. Noah went to Lice Peeking's house and told him that he needed help with ratting out Dusty. Lice knows all these things about the ship because he used to work there. Dusty really hates Lice (who's real name is Charles) because he stole this girl named Shelly from him.

Noah and Lice make a deal. The deal was that Lice wrote everything that was true about the Coral Queen and then Noah gives Lice a boat that his dad was trying to get rid of. Noah went to Lice's house to go and get the note but Shelly (Lice's Girlfriend) said that Lice was kiddnapped. She said that there were blood stains on the seats and it had been 24 hours after his dissapearence.

Noah's dad Paine escaped out of jail when he really didn't have to. The sheriff's were going to release him 8 hours after he broke out.

Bat 6 A novel

I'm reading a book called Bat 6. It's a good book. It's about Bear Creek's baseball team versing the Barlow Road's baseball team. They are going to verse each other on May 27th or 28th. Not in real life.

The favorite players are girls on both teams. They are Shazam or Shirley and Aki. I like Shazam because Shazam is a good baseball player. I like Aki because she's mysterious. She's a good baseball player because she can mostly hit home runs ( I think) and can field anything. Aki is mysterious because it doesn't talk about Aki that much in the book as in the other players.

The other players are Shadean, Tootie, Kate, Ellen, Daisy (Loose Lips), Little Peggy, Lorelei, Susannah, Vernell, Mrs. Porter, and Mr.Porter. That's the Bear Creek Ridge's baseball team. Aki is on it.

Here are is the Barlow Road team roster. Ila Mae, Audrey, Wink, Brita Marie, Alva, Darlene, Beautiful Hair Hallie, Manzanita, Lola, Lila, Mr.Rayfield, Dotty Rayfield, MVP 1940. Shazam is on the Barlow Road roster to.

I think Barlow Road will win. you should read this book. It's awesome.

Shakespeare's Secret by:Elise Broach

I am reading a book called Shakespeare's Secret. It is a very good book. It is about a girl named Hero which is the main character who is living in this house that use to be own by this guy named Mr.Murphy and his wife Eleanor. Eleanor has a necklace that had a big diamond on it but someone stole it... the police thinks that Murphy stole it to pay for Eleanor to get better. Eleanor had heart cancer, So she didn't have ever much time left.

Mrs.Roth is the neighbor to Hero an her family. Hero is trying to help Mrs. Roth find out if the diamond is still int he house or not. I think it is. Mrs. Roth and Hero have been researching on the necklace and it used to belong to Anna Boleyn, the mother of Queen Elizabeth the first. So when Anna got beheaded by her husband, she gave the necklace to Queen Elizabeth. Mrs. Roth thinks that Queen Elizabeth got pregnant and had birth to Edward De Vere Oxford. But in the history books it says that Queen Elizabeth never gave birth, but apparently she did.

So Queen Elizabeth tried to keep it a secret that she had a son. So she paid her son Edward Twelve thousand pounds a year to make plays and to make sure he doesn't tell anyone that she is his mom. So Mrs. Roth and Hero think that Edward is the secret Shakespeare because he loved to write and make plays and he was very intelligent. So they think that he was because Shakespeare was not qualified to write what Shakespeare wrote so they think it was a fake.

Then find the diamond in a light out side. Hero thought that that was just a light that keep the outside light but they could never find the light switch. So when Danny came to look with her for the diamond but the y couldn't find it inside in any of the lights so they just gave up.

When Danny is about to leave he says,"Hey, there's another light, maybe it is there."

But Hero thinks that it isn't in there because they can't even find the light switch. But Danny wants to check, so they check in there, and guess what is next? They unscrew the ball around it an then the Murphy diamond falls out. They look at each other and say "Wow!" They are both so happy.

But Danny takes it home and then without asking Hero he mails it to his mom that lives in L.A. When Hero finds out, she is very mad so they go and tell Mrs. Roth. Danny sent it to his mom because he didn't know that they had the necklace an because his mom wants to be an actress so she need to have a class an she is very very poor. So that is what happens so far it is a really good book.

One of my friends has read the book an she said that it was a really weird ending. But I thing it is going to be a really good ending myself.

Pendragon On Cloral

Do you like to read? Well if you don't, too bad, because I love to read! I am currently reading a book called Pendragon. It's about People from different territories (planets or places anywhere) called Travelers. A Traveler's job is to go to different territories and help where it is needed.

For instance, Bobby and his Uncle Press are in the first book they went to a territory called Denduron to prevent it from a civil war between two rival tribes, The Milago and The Bedoowan. But in this next book Bobby and Press travel to an underwater territory called Cloral. Cloral is on the break of civil war. The food supply is being poisoned by none other than Saint Dane, who Bobby had the pleasure of stopping him from destroying the mid evil world of Denduron. Angered from defeat, Dane tries to poison Cloral's food supply so the inhabitants are fighting for food.

Bobby and Press get taken to a floating city on the underwater world called Grallion. There, with the help of aquaneers, try to thwart Saint Dane from destroying all of Cloral. To do that, they must first travel to the lost city of Faar. Only there can the cure to save Cloral can be found. My least favorite part of the book is when Saint Dane escapes and sends bullets at Press from a different territory. The gun blast kills Press, but before he dies he tells Bobby that they will see each other again in Bobby's lifetime. Press is buried amongst the heroes of Cloral.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

Most of the time after S.S.R., we read Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is about Greek Gods. Percy is the son of Poseidon also known as, the Water God. What happened so far is that Percy got suspended from his school, and his mom is hiding the secret from Percy. Grover is his protector from evil-doers.

Taggerung

I am reading a new book called Taggerung. It is about talking animals on a quest. I have only read 12 pages. It has very small print but so far it is a really good book. It is a adventure and fighting book. The author is Brian Jacques. My librarian says that he is a really good author so that is pretty cool. This book is a New York Times Bestseller.

So this book is about ferrets, hedgehogs and rats so far. The ferrets are trying to find a Taggerung. I don't know what that is. I think it is a lord or mighty beast. I am not so sure. But that's what it is about so far.

Gilly Hopkins

Boy I wouldn't like living in a foster home, it would split my mind right down the line! I mean you live with people you don't even know. But I suppose it mends in time. That's not how Gilly Hopkins feels about Maime Trotter her new and laaarge foster mother. She thinks bad of her because she hovers over Gilly, and Gilly believes she is too friendly.

I think that Trotter tries so very hard to protect Gilly's new foster brother, William Ernest, A.K.A W.E. She very believes there is something wrong with him. I think William Ernest is a meek boy who does his best to fit in.

Toad Rage, Toad Heaven, and Toad Away

I read a book called Toad Rage, it was a funny book. It is about a toad named Limpy that tries to stop people from squishing his family. He leaves his home to try to be friends with people. At first he tried to be a zoo animal then he tried to be mascot in the Olympic Games. He never got to be a mascot in the olympic games but he at least convinced animals to make there own type of games, saved his cousin from a truck, and made a friend that was a human.

The second book was called Toad Heaven, it was an alright book but not as good as Toad Rage. Limpy had an idea on how to catch flies on the highway. He took one of his flat uncles, put tree sap on him and threw him at the flies, and told other toads to catch the flat uncle. Everyone liked his idea but when he left and came back four toads were throwing three tinier toads in the air. Limpy got mad and heard a noise. It was a four wheeler and all the toads hopped all around looking for safety. Only one toad was caught and that was Limpy. Then a scientist let Limpy go but the scientists dog told him that if he went by a toad that toad would be infected and that he has a few weeks to live. He was going to tell his family what happened but he thought of what the dog said and hid behind a tree. Limpy sent a beetle to go tell Goliath [his cousin] but he kept eating it all the beetles that Limpy sent. After about 20 beetles Limpy gave up and left to find a new home for his family.

The third book was called toad away. In the third book Limpy was wandering how to survive in the woods. Then something told him that his kind really lived in a rain forest in North America and that humans came to bring toads to Africa and eat some bugs because they have to much fly's or something like that. Then Limpy thought about North America and asked several birds about if they been to North America. 4 birds said yes so Limpy asked if they knew where they know where toads come from in north America. After that they said that they would take him to them. Then Limpys adventure begins.

three paragargh thing we have to write what we did this week

On what we did this week we did some work and some more work. We also did homework, not that much though. It was a fun this week (some week). We had indoor recess (also fun (some fun)). I played on computers all 30 minutes (45 min.).

All I did this week at home this very week of all the weeks was sleep, eat, school, eat & sleep. Like all the other weeks this was the most fun of all, a substitute came into our class. He was okay, fine, defined & great. He was a nice guy.

Today was a great day. It was also kind of short today. I got my work done which is great. To end this short paragraph I will say today is over bye.

The Weird Watsons go to Birmingham

So we are reading a book called the Weird Watsons go to Birmingham. It is a funny story, and it reminds me of my family because we are kind of weird too, so and along on their trip they run into some trouble like this - one time they were in their car and Byron and Joey and Kenneth and their grandma said that in the lake there live Wool Pooh, but the real name was whirl pool. And Joey was scared but he still went near the lake and he saw some fish and so he went in to the water and then he saw a turtle and then he jumped in the water and he missed the turtle and out of some fantasy he named the the whirl pooh a.k.a. the whirl pool.

My future book

This is my title for my book. Survival in the Colorado Desert. It's about people who were living in a house and have to go a year without food from the store. Do you think they can make it? It's a family of 5. The characters are Bob (the dad), Mary (the mom) Phil, Sam (brothers), and Jane (the little sister). Characters that appear less than the family are Gordan, Chan, Dan, and Sandra. Here's how it all began...

"Dad, my brother's bugging me again," said Sam.

"Then do something about it," said Dad.

Just then mom came home. Then mom said, "Bob I bought as much food as I could with $100."

That's great, honey," he said in a daydreaming voice.

Then Phil came into the kitchen. "Hey we are all in the kitchen That must mean it's dinnertime," said Bob.

"Oh brother," said Sam.

"That's right," said Phil.

"Do you know what day tomorrow is?" said Mary.

"No. What day is it tomorrow?" said Bob.

"It's our wedding day; remember?" said Mary.

"Oh I almost forgot," said dad. It will be our fifth year together.

"I can't believe it," said Bob.

"I can't believe you chose to live in a dry desert," said Phil in a stressed out voice.

Leven Thumps

I'm reading Leven Thumps by Orbert Skye. It's a great book and I'm almost done. My friend is reading it, too. I have all the books, 1,2,3,4,5. Like I said, all of them. I'm on the second book, and I still have to read the others.

In the book, Leven is a boy that had a dad that died before he was born. His mom died giving birth so he was raised by his ugly mean aunt named Addy. Addy didn't care about him, so he had a bad life. Since they lived in a small house, Leven had to sleep on a toddler bunk-bed. When Leven left and came back, Addy didn't care and acted like he never was gone.

When Leven meets Clover, she is friend that helps him discover Foo. Clover is from the world of Foo, which means that he is some kind of weird creature. Clover has a special robe, he can put anything in it and it will never get full. Clover can also turn invisible and can live forever. Leven is a nit witch means he has a special power. his power is to see the future. His other friend is winter, she is also a nit, she can make things freeze.

The Giver

The Giver is a book that my teacher read aloud to the whole class. It was a very good book but it had a very strange ending to it.

This book is about a boy who is selected to be the new receiver. Jonas's job as receiver is to receive the memories that are hidden from the people in the community. The people in the community have no memories at all but one person has all the memories and that is the Giver. The people have no memories because their world is perfect. In this word the people felt no sadness, no pain, no love at all. In this word a release is when the people would inject a liquid into the person that was being released. After a while the liquid would take affect and kill the person.

Jonas is a boy who is chosen out of all the twelves to be the receiver. Jonas will be receiving memories from the Giver the next day, so he did just that, and saw the Giver the next day and received memories the next day. Then Jonas received some nice memories like love, happiness, and joy and some bad memories like war, hurt, and starve. he enjoyed the good memories a lot but he had to receive bad memories to continue his job and he loved his job a lot.

The Weird-O Watsons

My teacher is reading a book to us about the Weird Watsons. It's about this strange family that lives in Flint Mishigan. It's a really funny book. Because in one chapter this kid Kenny's big brother By was looking at himself in the mirror of the family car outside and kissed him self in the mirror and his lips froze to the mirror, and their neighbors saw them trying get them unstuck and that's one reason they're called the weird Watsons.

Kenny in the book has a lazy eye and he can't make it go straight and kids at his school call him cock eyed Kenny the kids also call him Poindexter. He gets teased a lot at school. This kid named Larry Dunn would give him what he calls maytags and he gets snow in every part of his face. It must be really cold.

Number the Stars

For the past few weeks we have been reading a historical fiction book called Number the Stars. It is about a girl named Annemarie that has a sister named Kristi, an older sister that died, named Lise, and a friend named Ellen, and they discover that the soldiers are relocating all the Jewish people and any shops that are owned by Jews will be shut down. They know that Ellen and her family are Jewish so while Ellen's parents are away they must try to hide her from the soldiers at least til her parents get back... and then one night the soldiers come to Annemarie's house and start searching it and questioning them about who Ellen is. After that they knew it was not safe to stay there any longer.

They start staying out with Annemarie's uncle Henrik who really needs a wife because his house is always so dirty and messy! Then one day a casket comes to the house and uncle Henrik and mama tells Annemarie that her great aunt Bertie had died. And when Annemarie soon discovers that there is no real aunt Bertie, she is wondering why her uncle and mother would be lying to her. Then she understands that the less she knows the braver you can be!

Number the Stars

Lois Lowry is the author of Number the Stars. She made over 20 novels and we read one of them. She is a great writer and our class has read 2 of her best selling books. We read The Giver and Number the Stars. I think that with all the books that she wrote, she wanted to show no similarity in any of her books.

Recently we finished The Giver. It taught us how it would be if we had a perfect world. I think that book was very interesting, seeing how they don't know what feelings or colors were.

In the book, Number the Stars, there are many characters. Annemarie is one of those characters. I think she is the most important because she helps the most, and becomes the bravest. She also has a sister named Kirsti who is very stubborn and brave. And the last of all was the Rosen family. They were Jewish, so they had to hide from the Germans.

Number the Stars

Recently, the class read a book by Lowis Lowry called Number the Stars. What it's about is a girl named Annemarie and her family who live in Copenhagen, Denmark. This is in the time when the Nazis took over Denmark in the year 1943. Ellen is Annemarie's best friend, who lives next door to them in the apartment building. Ellen and her parents are Jewish, and is in danger. So, Annemarie's family and Peter help them escape to Sweden.

The plan is, they are going to use Uncle Henrik's boat to sail to Sweden, but the Nazis have dogs to sniff out the Jews hidden in the boats. They used a hankerchief with a smell that wards off dogs. Ellen and her family got away. Two years later, the war ended! There were flags and celebration everywhere! Annemarie still had Ellen's necklace so she decided that she would wear it until she found Ellen.

What I think of the book was it was great and well-written! My favorite chapter was the fifteenth,"My Dogs Smell Meat!" when Annemarie ran into Nazi soldiers.

Lowis Lowry is a great author. I recommend this book to everyone.

Number the Stars

My class just finished a book named Number the Stars; it's written by Lowis Lowry. Its a story about WW2. Two girls are best friends in the story. One's name is Ellen and she's Jewish. The other one's name is Annemarie, and shes not Jewish.

It tells about how it was dangerous to let the German soldiers know you were Jewish. They would take you away and maybe kill you. Ellen was almost always with Annemarie's family, and one the soldiers came, and Ellen had to act like Annemarie's dead sister, Lise. Annemarie's parents planed this so when the soldiers looked around they wouldn't know that Ellen is not their dauter the soldiers never learned that there not related.

At the end of the book Ellen's family had to escape to Sweden. Annemarie's uncle would hide them in his boat but they accidentally lost a package that would knock out the dogs sense of smell if the soldiers brought them. They did. they got the package and before the Germans cane and she saved a lot of peoples lives.

This is a really good book and I would recommend it to anyone who likes historic fiction.

Harry Potter

Today my mind is totally on Harry Potter. For those who don't know, Harry Potter is a series of books. The ENTIRE previous Thanksgiving Weekend I've been reading, reading, reading! I read one hundred pages Thursday and Friday, and the about fifty Saturday and Sunday. Today at school during independent reading (silent reading) I FINALLY finished book four; the Goblet of Fire.

Now I'm on book five (out of seven books in the series) the Order if the Phoenix. By what I've told you about the book; which is really nothing because there is waaaaay too much to tell!! But still, it is absolutely worth reading!! And if you've ever seen the actual books, you'll think, "Yikes! Those books are waaaay too big for me! I'll never be able to read all of that!!!"

Well yes, I will admit that they're fairly large books, but when I think about it, or when I'm talking to someone about the books I just say that the more book there is, the better! Because the stories in there are soooo good, you just won't be able to help but want more!!

Bedeviled

I am reading a book called Bedeviled. It is about a girl named Angel who is in middle school and her favorite band comes to Goodville. And the reason her mom picked that place is because the name is GOODville with a capital GOOD. Her mom likes small towns that no one notices.

And when Angel finds out she can't go to the concert she is shocked. And she was so mad she stormed out the door and went to her room, and a few hours later she asked again and again, and her mom got tired of it so she said you can go to the concert.

And when Angel kept saying YES! Now I can take Gabi. And when she was singing she did a crazy dance and that's where she heard her mom say in such a soft voice, You can go with me.

And all of a sudden she stopped dancing and turned to her mom and said WHAT!

"Yes, you can go with me.

NO. NO. NO! I cant go with you. Everyone else isn't going with someone.

"Well that's their parents decision, not their's. So do you want to go or not?"

NO.

Ok.

The Meanest Doll In The World

I just finished reading a really good book. It is the second book of "The Doll People." It was about Annebelle And Tiffany going to a school.

Annebelle, Tiffany, and Aunt Sarah were dolls in the attic looking for spiders when they saw a rare spiderweb. When they were running to see it, Annebelle tripped and fell into a spiderweb. Tiffany and Aunt Sarah were trying to get her out when they heard the humans getting up.

All of them ran out of the basement and tried to hurry back to Kate's room. Aunt Sarah hid behind the attic door and Tiffany and Annebelle jumped in Kate's backpack to avoid being spotted. But they didn't get out in time and they were carried away to Kate's school.

When they found out they were at a school, they decided to look around. They went from classroom to classroom looking for Kate. When they were in the classroom, Tiffany got spotted by a little girl who wanted to play with Tiffany. So Tiffany had to be played with by the little kids, and since they wouldn't stop playing with her, Annebelle and Tiffany had to spend the night at the school.

the doll people

I just started to read this really amazing book called The Doll People. It's about real China dolls that live a secret life of coming to life. Whenever the humans are away, the dolls can move around as they please.

It's a little easy, but it's a great book. I recommend it to anyone who likes magical books. It is called The Doll People, and can be found in the Denali school library.

The main event that happened in the story was that Annebelle (main doll) had an Aunt Sarah who was missing after going out of the doll house (risking her life). She loves to find spiders and see how they live, but then Aunt Sarah got trapped and couldn't return to the doll house, being absent for 45 years.

Then one day Annebelle was bored because she didn't have any friends, so she looked around in her room and found a special journal that happened to belong to her Aunt Sarah who was missing. Annebelle looked through the journal hoping to find a clue about where her Aunt was. When she went looking for her Aunt with her brother and uncle, she found another doll family that was a birthday present for one of the humans.
