One time I was at my house and the power went out. So my family and I just lit some candles so we could see without tripping. But the candles didn't work that well because I was walking to the living room and I tripped. The power was out for like ten minutes. Then it started getting pretty cold because there was no electricity. I just grabbed a blanket and sat on the couch and waited for the power to come back on.

Then finally it came back on. It felt so long, like the Nile River. The next day we found out why it went out. Someone ran into a power pole and knocked it over. I hope it never happens again. It was so boring.

A couple weeks ago our car's transmission broke and we have to drive 30 to 35 mph. It's slow and stupid but we're never late for some reason. Our car is old and we might get a new one. I hope we get a new one. Ours is a Mercury. They're teamed with Ford. I HATE FORDS! Do you know what Ford stands for?

Hi I'm Destinee and I am going to tell you what we do every Christmas. On Thanksgiving we go to my grandma's house in North Pole. We eat, we chat, and we have a great time. When we are done my grandma goes around asking everyone to pick a piece of paper. Once we get our piece of paper we show her who we got and she writes them down on a note pad. By the time Christmas comes, we go downstairs and sit in a circle. Then my grandpa gets the presents under the tree and calls out names. That person has to come up and claim their prize. The way we do this has been in the family for years and is still going. I think you call this a tradition. That is what we do on Christmas.

About to see my dad for the first time. I bet it will be awesome. I hope he will be cool. He said we would go to Birch Hill or go to Moose Mountain to go snow boarding. I hope we do go snow boarding. He said that we are going to race each other from one spot to a certain spot and back; if I win he owes me 20 dollars. If he beats me, I owe him nothing.

When I was going to Puerto Rico we had to say good bye to everyone that I knew when we left for Puerto Rico. It's pretty bad to be on the plane because then you get sick, but when we got to Puerto Rico, we got picked up by my mom's cousin.

After a little while we went to the mall which is pretty normal for me because there is dozen malls down there.

I visited my whole family. In a couple of days my dad came, and that is where the fun started. We went to a waterfall. Down there there's a bunch of people. I tried to tell my cousin he was too scared to jump. He tried going back but I pushed him off. When it was my turn to jump I hit this really hard rock which turned out to be my cousin in the water.

After that we went hiking up my dad's sister's mountain. It was a big mountain. when we reached the top you could see the whole city. After that we went back down and had a party. My dad's sister had two Huskeys and a German Shepherd.

Thanksgiving weekend my dad took me to Anchorage. We went to the 5th Avenue Mall on Saturday. Black Friday was still going on so everything was around 60% off! It was so cool! We went through the whole store, Abercrombie and Fitch, AreoPastel, American Eagle, and a lot more. It was really really fun.

So this Thanksgiving, my dad took me to Anchorage. We stayed at his friend, Donald's, house. He has two boys. Jake is in 7th and Austin in 3rd. Their whole family came. At dinner we had turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, sweet potatoes, green beans, ham, and after we got apple pie. It was all very, very, very good.

Then we played Apples to Apples with the whole family. While we were playing Jake's friend, Bailey, called. His uncle Bill was right by the phone. He picked up and said, "This is Napa... Napa auto parts....... Mhm.. Yeah? Well a 'Jacob' doesn't work here I'm sorry," and he hung up.

We were all trying not to laugh too loud. About and hour or so later he called back. Bill answered the phone.

"Hello this is the Smithsonian.... Yes the one in Washington...... What? Who's Jake?..... Oh, okay," and he handed the phone to Jake.

It was really, really funny because Bill is so boring and he doesn't make anyone laugh. He's pretty cool.

My family is cool. My dad works at the Department of Transportation, (aka) DOT. It is very cool that he works there, and how sometimes I get to go to his job with him.

My mom is very fun and supportive. She helps me with my homework then lets my sister and I do something fun. My mom likes to cook with my sister Iriana and I.

I have a brother named Jibreel. He has helped me with all sorts of things like finding a book that I lost, or other things like that.

My sister's name is Iriana. She is very funny most of the time I am around her. We have fun together like the time my dad took my cousins, Jibreel, Iriana, and I all to the University Hill. We had shared a sled for a little while.

Hi my name is bubblegum2 and this is a story about my grandpa. My grandpa was born in Alaska, Fairbanks. He now lives in Hawaii, but he is visiting me and my mom. I enjoy his company!!!

The reason he is here is that there is no work in Hawaii, so he came here to visit and ended helping my uncle on a house. Since he is staying here over Thanksgiving, my grandma wants to come because she doesn't want to spend Thanksgiving without him. I can't wait till she is here.

My name is Charnette. I am going to tell you some things about my family. I have a small family because I only have 4 people in it.

First,I have a brother name Charles. He is 14 years old and goes to high school. He loves football and basketball. His birthday is january 31 and mine is january 29. He is kind of tall. He loves dogs and doesn't like cats. And thats some stuff about my brother.

Next, I have a dad that's named Charles also. He is a cook at the Westmark hotel. The best thing he cooks is Shrimp pasta "yummy". He plays basketball and football. He loves dogs also. I love my dad!

Now, My mom is in the military. She doesn't really play any sports anymore. She just cheers for me and my brother at our games for sports. She is tall. And she loves shopping so she gets me lots of clothes and other things.

Last, And now me, Charnette. I am 11 years old. I love softball and basketball. I am short and I love dogs. I love school because I can come see my friends everyday of the week plus sleepovers. I have a lizard and that's my family.

Every other month, me and my dad have "Daddy Daughter Day".

This month, we went to Friends Church! After that we went to go see a movie. It was called "Real Steal" and it was AWESOME! My dad was so happy we had Daddy Daughter Day because we never really get to have time together because he is always busy. After that we went to the mall and he got me skinny jeans and a shirt from American Eagle. I was going to get my hair done but we didn't have enough money.

My name is Bob and I'm here to tell you about my wonderfully crazy life.

I don't remember much about my dad dropping me but I heard the story. I was a little baby and my dad set me on the counter. Sadly the dishwasher door was open. I fell off the counter and I hit my head on the edge of the dishwasher door. Sounds painful doesn't it?

I remember the first time I went to Disneyland like it was yesterday. Me, my brother, my other brother, my mom, and my dad all went to Disneyland. The first ride I went on was the dumbo ride. Then me and my mom went on the tea cups. By the way that was my favorite ride. They tried to get me to go on one of the roller coasters but I didn't because I was only four. But I did go on the log ride and some others. Everyone but me and my mom were the only one's who didn't go on the roller coaster. But I had fun anyway.

My fifth birthday was not very fun because I was going somewhere and my mom closed my pinky finger in the door. Then I was coming inside from where we went to, and I stubbed my toe and I fell up the stairs. Then I went up stairs and changed. Then when I was coming down stairs I fell down the stairs. then only a few people showed up. That was the worst birthday ever.

I remember when I rode a horse for the first time. I was with my friend in Anchorage with her grandma. She had three horses. I rode her gentlest horse. It was so much fun. They taught me how to go up hill and down hill. After that me, my friend, and her grandma went on a ride. It was the most fun thing I had done all weekend.

Last Christmas was the best Christmas ever. Do you want to know why? It was the best because I got an iphone four. Besides that I got a case and $60 in itune cards. When I got it charged up I put on the case and started to download games the first thing I got was netflix. I also got angry bird. It was the most fun thing ever. That was only a few things that happened to me in my life.

Every Friday at around five, we go out of town to visit Grandma. Her house is built out of logs and is huge, so there's a lot of places to hide during hide and seek.

What we usually do is read or play for an hour, waiting for the dinner to be done. Then, we have a big feast and afterwards we have dessert.

After dessert we play hide and seek, or just lay around the living room, reading. And that sums it up to three hours. At last, we drive back into Fairbanks at around eight. That's what I call a good Friday.

If you were given a ticket to fly anywhere in the world, where would you go? I would go to Washington state. I was there about 4 or 5 times. I would want to go there because it's beautiful, and I would like to visit my relatives.

I would first go and stay with my grandma. Then, because I would have saved all of my money, I would go to one of the best candy stores there ever was! The candy store has jaw-breakers the size of both of my fists. The candy store also has a smallish ferriswheel that has rainbow tootsierolls, and they have all the flavors.

Then I would go to the cherry orchards and pick some fresh cherries off the trees. I did that before when I was there last time; it is really fun. There are two kinds of cherries, ones with seeds, and ones without.

After that I would go and visit my uncle. He builds sculptures. He made a a metal soldier, and it was a soldier because he made a metal gun and a helmet for him. One of the cool things he did was he put a camera in his driveway, but it didn't really work.

Before we left North Carolina my whole family and I made new year resolution. Mine was too make it to the Junior Olympics again this year and at least get 4th place in one event. Then after we did that we had to read them out loud. Here are some of my aunt's.

My aunt Ruby said that she would stop letting her kids take money from her so much and start doing stuff for her more.

My Aunt Vivan said, lose 25 pounds and stop working so much and take a break.

It was fun to hear what everyone wanted to do this year. They also read the '08 resolutions and '09 resolutions. They were really funny. I had a great time.

On what we did this week we did some work and some more work. We also did homework, not that much though. It was a fun this week (some week). We had indoor recess (also fun (some fun)). I played on computers all 30 minutes (45 min.).

All I did this week at home this very week of all the weeks was sleep, eat, school, eat & sleep. Like all the other weeks this was the most fun of all, a substitute came into our class. He was okay, fine, defined & great. He was a nice guy.

Today was a great day. It was also kind of short today. I got my work done which is great. To end this short paragraph I will say today is over bye.

Yesterday my brother Joe broke his left arm in wrestling match. Joe is a REALLY good wrestler and the 160 weight class was empty so his coach put him in 2 weight classes. While he was wrestling a 160 kid, the kid fell on his arm and it crushed part of his elbow.

He wanted to finish the match because he and his coach thought it was a twisted muscle. But his coach talked him out of it. When Joe got home he couldn't move his arm.

His coach had told him to go to a doctor, so my dad took him to a doctor and was told his elbow was crushed. Joe is really sad because now he can't finish the wrestling season.

This year for Christmas was like any other year for me, except that my family and I didn't go to Seattle. Ok, wake up (Zzzzzzz) open my sock!! (stocking) then while we we're eating our eggs benedict, my sister, Elizabeth, Skyped to Seattle to see the rest of our family.

Later we open presents. I got some clothes, gift cards, cook books, books, OH! And a Wii and guitar!!!!!

Then we just chill and relax. My brother plugged his brand new iPod touch into iTunes. And I plugged in my Wii and started playing the four player-Mario Bros game.

The entire rest of the day we just reeeeeelaxed. And had turkey dinner, of course!!!! yummmmm!!

After allllllll that we finally went to bed Zzzzzzzz

"Cool! It's an iPod touch!" I shouted.

This Christmas, I got a lot of new presents. We had Christmas early we were snowboarding on Christmas day. Some things I got were: a new helmet for snowmachining, a camera, and a LOT of new shoes.

When I saw my helmet, I thought it was cool. " It's from Grandpa" mom said."

I like it a lot." I said. I also got a keleidascope which is a thing you look into and see "quilt-like" shapes.

"That's coool!" I hollered.

Another present I got was a glass case with real butterflies in it, but they were not alive. I thought that looked really cool. I got a wood frog with a mallet, and when you rub the bumps on the frog's back with the mallet, it sounds exactly like a frog.

My mom said "Oops! We forgot the stockings." The coolest present was the very last one in the stocking. "Cool! It's an iPod touch! I shouted. The first day I got the iPod, I got it all ready. I have played it so much ever since.

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you had a good Christmas. For Christmas this year I was in North Carolina. You know when some people get up and start opening presents? Well, in this family you have to wait for everyone to get to the house, then you have to eat, then you get to open presents, and by that time it is about 4 o’clock. That’s the part I didn’t really like about having Christmas here. But other than that I had the best time of my life.

The next day after Christmas we had a party for my Dad and Rasheedah. It was pretty cool but kind of boring. We had lots of different kind of food. There was cake and fruit punch and sparkling cider that was apple flavor which I hated. The whole Christmas party I didn't eat or drink anything.

There was a lot of people that I didn’t know, but most of the people there were my cousins. It was a awesome party at the end. That’s what I did for Christmas.

Today we had a little Christmas Eve party at my aunt's house. It was fun. I got to see some people that I wanted to see. My Aunt Ruby made some buffalo wings, hot wings, spaghetti, and salads; it was a really good dinner. We stayed there til 12:06 and then we had to drive back to my Aunt Vivian’s house. That took 30 minutes. It took so long I went to sleep in the car. We were having a good time. We watched District 9 and The Decent. It was so fun; the whole night we were talking and laughing. It was really fun.

Driving from New York was long and hard. It took 12 hours and it was snowing, and then it started raining. I was watching movies and sleeping most of the time. I don’t get how my dad can stay awake so long. It is so amazing how he can do it. We were listening to jazz, hip hop, and rock music. The people up here don’t drive very fast, so we pass like 30 of them. One time my dad passed someone and the person honked at us. That person was weird because all we did was pass them and then they honked at us. We stopped twice for food and gas/bathroom break. It was a long drive, but we did it. When we arrived it was 1:30, but 9:30 for your Fairbanks time.

Hello class, I hope you are going to have a good Christmas. I am in North Carolina. We are 4 hours ahead of you in Fairbanks. I spend most of my time with my baby cousin, Cassidy. She is so cute. She is 5 months old. She loves to blow bubbles. She is the most beautiful little girl. She is darker than me and she loves to take my glasses off of my face. She loves to look at me too. She’s not shy at all. The first time I looked at her she stuck out her arms and wanted me to hold her. Well, that’s all I got to say… Oh yeah... Merry Christmas.

I have learned that you get most of your genetics from your parents. People say that I look like my mother but they must be kidding because I don't look anything like my mother. Both my mother and my dad have black hair and I ended up with brown hair. When I was little I had blond hair. Then It started turning brown.

Yesterday, November 7th 2009, I went swimming with my older sister, Suzy. We went swimming at Hamme Pool right next to Ryan Middle School.

What we did first was we swam to the bottom of the 12 ft pool. At first I didn't know how to swim really deep without losing all my of oxygen. Suzy knew how to because her gym time is at Hamme pool and she practices retrieving heavy objects. She asked me, "Do you want to race to the bottom of the pool?"

"I don't know how to," I replied.

"It's really simple. You just shape your arms and legs as a pencil,"she explained as she formed her body to look like a pencil. She continued, "Then as you're going down in the water, you let out some air, but not too much."

I looked at her funny. Why would you let out air? I thought you were suppose to hold it in. "Do you want to try?" she said interrupting my thoughts.

"Yes!" I exclaimed. So,I put on my goggles, straightened out like a sharp pencil, inhaled a mouthful of air, and dove underwater. My sister did the same. I let out a few bubbles of air then, felt the bottom of the 12 ft pool. I was so excited! I never did that before! I smiled underwater. :)

On Saturday I went to basketball practice. I was nervous at first and at the end I was a little bit less nervous. It started when the parents had to do paper work. The only thing I had to do was sign my signature.

When I got on the basketball court I was shooting some baskets. I made and missed probably half and half. After that I had to do 2 layups before going to our next evaluation station. I made 1 and missed 1.

My next station was going around the three point line and during a free throw. I mostly made baskets there.

My next station was a 3 on 3 game. I blocked poorly and made baskets poorly there.

My last station was shooting more baskets. I did the running with the player with the ball first. Then second I had the ball, then shot and missed. I did the same thing as what I did the second time, and missed again. The fourth time I missed, but saw Garrius, Glenn, and 1 of their friends. Garrius made 1 before I missed on my 5th time. Glen also made it. So did the friends of theirs. I had to go when they said, "Line up." The total time was 30-45 minutes.

Koala is my dog and she has recently got staples in her nose. She got staples in her nose because she got into a stick this summer and some sticks can contain a bacteria that put that bubble on her nose.

At first it was really small, the size of one little dot, then in the winter just before I left to Hawaii it was SuPeR big. I got really worried. So when I was in Hawaii, I called my dad everyday and asked him if the dog was okay and he kept saying that it was getting better, but when I came home I found out that it was getting bigger... Since my dad didn't take her in for her second opinion, my mom and I had to. So we took her in, and then they said that next Tuesday she would get the big thing that looked like a wart removed.

I was so scared that day and when I went to school on that fateful day all I could think about was my poor cute big dog. Later that day when I came home from school she didn't run up to me or anything. She was under my mom and dad's bed laying there, not a sound. It was so sad cause usually she is up and running all around.

I use to have a perfect family, a nice step dad, cool mom, a brother, and for once, a sister, fun dogs, and a great big house. But before I knew it, all of that changed.

It all started when I was about four or five years old and my brother was maybe seven. You see, my mom wasn't very rich but then she met Deric, he was probably going to be a good dad. He had everything, car, good job, house, everything except a wife. My mom was perfect for him because they liked the same things. But it wasn't only my mom's deciding, it was also me and my brother. Of course, we said yes, how could we not! He played with me, and he didn't let work come before his family.

I have still such great memories, like the time I took my mom's bright red lipstick and drew all over the walls. I had the best Christmases ever. He would buy me all the things that I would want, but I mainly wanted teapots and things like that.

But anyway back to the real story, so I asked him if he could marry my mom and the next day he did! Two weeks before the wedding it happened; he was motorcycling and then he hit a rock and fell in the ditch. Then he was gone, gone forever.

Two weeks ago I went to Chena Hot Springs with my aunty and cousins. It was a lot of fun. I fed ducks and went in a pool jacuzzi, and it was cool. And on the way back we blew firecrackers. There were Calvin, Brian, Corene, Jason, Nina, Charline and my aunty, and me. It was a lot of fun.

We were riding around after that. We went to go eat at Family Restaurant but went home. But not Corene, Jason, Charline, and Nina; they went to Anchorage. But I will go Anchorage for Christmas vacation.

I hope it will be cool; it will be my first time on a vacation so I am so happy. Three more weeks and it will be Christmas. The people are going is my aunty, Calvin, Brian, Nina and me, so we are celebrating Christmas in Anchorage.

Last year, I went on a vacation to Florida....more like the best vacation ever! We went there to visit our family. A lot of my family lives there. They are: my grandma, my grandpa, my twin aunts, their husbands, and one of the twin's sons (my cousin).

First of all, we had to get there somehow. Of course, we flew. We went from Fairbanks to Seattle, then Seattle to Orlando. The flights were HORRIBLE! In all, it took twelve whole hours to get there. Twelve hours of sitting and doing nothing!

When we finally got there, we had to drive the car to my grandparents' house, which was another two hours. My grandparents live in the country. It is a place called Branford. They have a pool at their house. My family and I swam in it almost every day we were at Branford. It was a lot of fun.

A few days later, we went to St. Pete. This is where my aunts, uncles, and my cousin live. We did lots of fun things there. We went bowling one day. My mom was the best. My twin aunts took my sister and I shopping. We visited a lot with our family in St. Pete.
