Who was Seward?
William Henry Seward was the Governor of New York. Seward was born Florida, New York. He Married Francs Adeline Miller on October 20, 1824. The Raised five Children. His wife died in 1865. He died in October 10, 1872 at the age 71.

What did he do?
He made a deal with Russia for 7.2 million dollars or 2 cents an acre. Before Russia had captured Alaska from native Alaskans. The Purchase agreement was signed by Seward on March 30, 1867. President Andrew Johnson signed the final treaty the following day the treaty in Sitka. A lot of people were really made because they thought it was a big waste of money and it was useless land but it isn’t now because they found oil and gold in Alaska and 15th of the oil in the United States is from Alaska .

Why does he have a Day?
He has a day because it is the day he signed with Russia for Alaska and it tells us that was the ay that Alaska was bought to the United states.
