Why I am proud to be an Alaskan
Alaska is a place of roaring beauty. Wildlife move around every corner. Dogs have more meaning than in any other place in the world. In Alaska, you get the chance to live in a place where people live the ultimate experience. When you live in Alaska, you learn how to survive all weather, from storming rain, to hail as big as a fist. Snowstorms are as normal as a sale at a shopping mall. You get the chance to see things you could not see anywhere else. Don't believe me? Ever seen a moose eat a carrot out of your upstairs window? I have. And I love the way it makes me feel when I step outside on a winter morning, and the temperature drops 130 degrees. I love that exuberant feeling. I love the way that I feel when I go sliding down my driveway when I run. I love the way I can run around with my coat on all year long without worrying about overheating. I love the way I feel when I look out my window on a frosty October morning, and see snow as white as whipped cream falling gently from the navy blue sky. But the one thing I love the most about being an Alaskan, is the thrill of saying I love being an Alaskan, and no person, place, or thing, can make me stop.
