My Hawaii Journal
January 31, 2008
I am in Hawaii. I am on the Island Oahu, and we are visiting Honolulu everyday and living on a house on Ewa Beach. I just got here late last night, and we have already done a lot of stuff. Today we went to an outlet mall. An outlet mall is a mall that is full of stores, it is just like a regular mall, but the clothes are things that didn’t make it into the regular stores. This could be because the clothes were damaged or were not on this year’s clothes line. I got some clothes. There were also other stores that did not have clothes. There were two that were chocolate stores. Yum. Speaking of yum, I also tried this Hawaiian desert called shave ice. It is kind of like a snow cone, but the ice is more like snow, instead of little tiny ice chunks in a snow cone. Mine was strawberry-banana. It was very good.
We went to Chinatown next. It was fun. We got a lot of stuff. My little brother got a Chinese ninja outfit. It looked like a real ninja costume. My little sister McKinley got a Kimono. I got a silky shirt with flowers on it. My older sister got a new purse. Then we went to another shop in Chinatown. I got a pink purse that had flowers on it. My little siblings got glow in the dark slappy balls. When you hit them against something, they light up. My sister went to look for a military ball dress at a dress shop in Chinatown. She saw a few things she liked, but not anything she wanted to get. Then we went to the Ala Moana Center. It is a really cool mall. It has a lot of stores. I got a bag and a shirt from the Disney store. Then we had to leave because my little sister and brother were getting tired.

Today we went to a restaurant called Jack in the Box. It is a fast food restaurant. I got chicken strips. We went to a place that was called Planet Hollywood. There was a wall where all of the celebrities come to Hawaii put their handprints on a clay mural. Then we went to walk down to downtown Waikiki and we went into a few shops. One of the ones we went into was a souvenir shop and we got some jewelry, and t-shirts. That was fun.

Today we went to the beach that we live on. My younger siblings built sand castles and me and my older sister laid on the sand till the water sucked us in. It was so much fun. We went to the Dole pineapple plantation and it started to rain. So we went into the mall that was there and we got a lot of souvenirs. Then we went to the botanical garden that was in a little town. It was really pretty. But It started to storm really badly so we had to run back to the car
Then we went home and took a long walk on the beach. Then everyone went inside except me and my sister Kylie and I. We played on the beach and made a moat for the water to flow around our sand castle town. Next we got tired of the moat building, so we decided to try to build a hole in the sand that we could sit in and the water could go over our head and then we could get wet without going in to the ocean. It didn’t work the way we thought it would. It kept caving in when the water hit it. So we started our own (fake) sand soup restaurant. We did that for a long time. It was fun.

Today was my mom’s birthday. We went to Aloha Tower Marketplace. It is a mall in Honolulu. It is right on the harbor so it has a really nice view. My dad got a pair of black crocs. Then my older sister was not feeling well so we had to go home.

Today we went inside the Diamond Head crater. It was really cool. My dad got a lot of pictures. After that, we went to Waikiki Beach. A funny thing is that my little brother kept calling it “Tiki Beach.” Then we went to a few small towns on the north coast of Oahu. We went to the North Shore beach. They have big waves there, but we had to drive home because we were a long way from our house, and we wanted to get home before it got dark.

I LOVE your story. You should take me to Hawaii when you go next time. I will go with anyone. ANYONE GOIN TO HAWAII? Okayy so yeah LOVE the story! Tell me all about it later! :)
