Zues, the God of the Sky. Athens his favorite Daughter
Zues

Zeus was the god of the sky. He was also God of weather Zues’ image appears on most Greek coin. The People of Greece made Zeus their main god. He was the ruler of Olympus. All the gods lived there. Zues had many different names. They were god of the sky, the Cloud gatherer, the Rain-god, and Zeus the Thunder. All of these showed power of nature. This was most important in the Ancient World. Zues was not like gods in other religions. He was not all powerful and all knowing. He got challenged and tricked by other gods and men alike. Zues had no control over The Fates and Destiny.
Athena

She was very fierce and brave in battles. She was one of the most powerful forces on Mount Olympus. She was the Goddess of War and Immortal Spirit of Wisdom. She was also the Goddess of handicrafts. Athena invented the bridle. The bridle permitted man to control horses, the flute, the plough, the yoke, chariot and the ship. Zeus’s favorite child, Athena, was allowed to use his weapons including the thunderbolt. She sometimes opposed his plans and then worked against him. She did this in the Trojan Wars too.
Athena and Poseidon each had to provide one useful gift to the Greek people. Poseidon provided a wonderful horse, but Athena provided the simple olive tree. This olive tree gave olives, oil and shade. The Greeks accepted her gift and then named the city after her...Athens!
I really enjoyed reading about Zues and Athena. I'm wondering why Athena is Zues’ favorite daughter? Did she do something to make her his favorite daughter? Or would he just like her more than anyone else? I'm not sure if Zeus had other kids, but I think he did. I plan on finding out if he had more kids and why Athena is his favorite.
o m g i have to do a report on zues and i realy need help i dont even now why iam doing this i think this is just a watse of time
im only 14, but i heard that Poseidon gave the Greek people a stream of salt water, is that true? or did he really only give them a horse? but then what happened to the bull????
sincerely,
confused on mythology, but willing to learn!
an Oracle said to Zeus that her first child will be a girl, but the second would be a boy who will overthrow Zeus, as had happened to his father Cronus and his grandfather Uranus. To avoid the prophecy, Zeus ate Metis his wife, and it is said After a while, Zeus started to have huge headaches. Advised from Hermes, Hephaestus took a wedge and split open Zeus’s head. Athena came out from it, fully armed and wearing her helmet. Because of her way of birth, she becomes the favourite child of Zeus

It is Acrisios, I got a new puppy
I am no expert, but i think that it is because she is very brave and never gives up, even when she is at a disadvantage. P.S. The monster was not in the whorlpool, it was in a cave on the other side of the canyon.
this is really cool. my teacher loves greek history and she even taught it at one time, but i iwish she would go back and do it again. im doing a report on zeus for social studies and i really love greek gods too.
peace
Cool! I have been working on greek mythology too! We have to do an Power Point presentation on it... but, learning about it is fun!
Wow! That is really neat. Personally, I love reading about Greek mythology. It is so neat. I read the series of the Odyssey and it is so good!!! It is about a man named Odysseus who lost his way coming back from the Trojan War. He has to go through a lot of bad things. He almost dies many times but Athena saves him. He and his crew has to face a Cyclops, crashing rocks, a whirlpool with a monster in it, and a many headed dragon. His crew gets bewitched by a witch and he gets shipwrecked. Poseidon gets mad at him because Odysseus and his crew killed his son, the Cyclops. When Odysseus finally gets home he and his son fight of all of the suitors. You really should read this series. Bye!
P.S. please comment to my blog!
did you know Athena was born out of Zues' head? she was probably his favorite daughter cause she ws so smart and brave and stood up for the city-stae Athens she hated the city-state Sparta (i think it is) but why not hate back then people there didnt know how to read in Sparta nor write if i were a god/ goddess i sure wouldnt be proud of that city state

Athena was in a sense, directly from Zues. She was spawned, if I remember correctly, from his armour...or forehead...something along those lines. She was smart and strong, and Zues was ignorant, so he took these as perfect aspects and allowed her to do as she pleased and use his armor and such.
Of course, Athena was no fool, she was, as you mentioned, the goddess of wisdom, she wasn't ignorant as her father, but she did not take kindly to insults, which is why she plotted againest Paris in the Trojan wars (if you read the poem the Illiad (sp?) you find out that Paris loved only Aphrodite and insulted Athena))
2 things, it was his forehead (athena was born from zeus's forehead), and your spelling is correct
