Steps for Mummification

People of ancient Egypt believed they had to mummify the pharaohs. The ba was your personality. Pharaohs had masks when they died for the Ba to come and recognize its face for the afterlife. The ka was a life force. It lived inside you. It needed food and water just like a human.

Some mummies were naturally formed by the heat and dryness. In ancient Egypt They wrapped pharaoh in hundreds of yards of linen. Then the body was embalmed, and washed out. After that they covered the body with natron. It is a natural salt that absorbs water, and to keep the body in shape forever.

To the Egyptians the brain was worthless. They thought that when you think your heart is doing that. To get the brain out they used a tool that went through the nostril and pulled it out. To get to the organ out a guy came in a tent and cut it open then the priests would curse at him and shoe him away. Because it is bad to cut a Egyptian. When They got the organ out they put them in canopic jars. They left the heart in because they would need it for the afterlife.

In Between wrappings they put amulets for good luck. When they were done they put the body in a case. Then they put the case in a sarcophagus inside a pyramid.

I really like how the Egyptians used to mummify people with no technology. I wish I could be wrapped like a mummy when I die.
