My Plant

By Makeala - Posted on 16 December 2011

At the beginning of the year, August 31, 2011, we planted pinto beans and corn to see if they would grow. We planted our seeds into cups, but first we put sand at the bottom of the cup, then we put the soil in, and watered the soil. Then after the soil sat for a little while, my class and I put our seeds in. After they started to grow, I looked at them and felt like I had to puke and scream. I had never really gotten used to looking at the plants, but I knew I had to.

Did you know that the outer layer will come off of the pinto beans? Well they do. It is very cool to look at and after all of the skin is off, the skin seems to disappear into the soil. I have tried to find the skin before, but I never succeeded.

My teacher had my class and I draw pictures of our beans and corn. My plants hadn't grown very much, but it still looked disgusting. Soon after, I got used to looking at my bean and corn plants. They started to grow very tall and they were very healthy. On Friday, December 16, 2011, I was looking at my plant, then my teacher said that after my class and I looked at our plant with the magic eye, we could throw them away. That is why I don't have my plant anymore, but once I threw my plant away, I found a bean pod on my sweater sleeve and I cracked it open. There was a little bean inside. Then I gave the bean to my friend Karalee.
