Dissecting a Fetal Pig

By Malynda - Posted on 30 October 2007

Last Friday we dissected a fetal pig. We dissected it so we could see how the body system worked. The reason we wanted to see how the body system worked is because we were learning about the brain.

We also dissected a sheep brain. It was cool because we got to see the two sides of the brain and the cerebellum. When the scientists came here the brain was in a jar. But the brain wasn't a big brain because it wasn't a human brain. It was a sheep brain. It was probably about the size of a fist.

The fetal pig was really small and when they opened the bags it smelled weird. I didn't touch the pig though. The boys at the table were touching the pig and laughing a lot. They thought it was really cool. The pig looked weird because its tongue was sticking out. People kept touching the tongue too.

I thought it was cool that we got to dissect the pig but I didn't like dissecting it. It was better because we didn't have to cut it open and touch it. Well we could touch it if we wanted.

Some people didn't even look at the pig they just sat on the opposite side of the room and read a book. I think it was really nice of the scientist to bring the pig and sheep brain in.

this is great

Did you enjoy dissecting a pig or was it gross? If that would have been me I would have been discosted to see the pigs body. But I would have enjoyed it. COMMENT ME BACK ON MY BLOG PLEASE!!!

I probably would have been sitting on the other side of the room. I don't like the thought of somthing thats dead being cut open. I wold not cut out for working in a morg where they cut dead bodies open and I think they take there organs out or something like that so they dont decompose, and sometime they try to figure out what the person's cause of death was.
