My New Guitar

By Luna Lovegood - Posted on 12 January 2010

"Daddy! Daddy! Daaaddddy!!" I gently shoved my Dad to wake him up.

"Hmmpf? Oh mornin' Pumpkin," he said thickly from just waking up.

"C'mon Daddy, come ON!" I tugged on his arm, "oh my gosh, Dad. How could you possibly keep sleeping on Christmas!?"

"Mmmmff, mmmmok, I'll be right up, Pumpkin," he rolled out of bed as I WALKED UP.

I walked up the stairs only to find my black Labrador, Taz, rattling the metal as he hopped up inside his kennel.

"Hey, boy! Hey , Tazzy!" I said as I turned the latch to open his kennel. The moment I did so, he plunged towards me, knocking me onto the nearby couch.

I looked over towards the fireplace, to note the the stockings hung there, but to see them laying on the couch.

I emptied my sock that contained chocolate coins, a pack of gum, an iTunes gift card, etc.

"Mornin'," Dad said, muffled by the sweatshirt he was pulling on as he ascended the stairs. "All right, I'm gonna take Taz for a walk." He whistled for the dog to come, then dissapeared down the garage stairs.

I looked into my stocking again and saw a thin magazine under it. I slid the magazine from under it and looked at the cover-
Learn Guitar NOW! was printed on the front. I thought that this was pretty cool because Phyllis, my (almost) stepmom, had been teaching me some chords and notes on her guitar.

I turned towards the stairs at the sound of my fifteen-year-old brother, Samson, tripped up the stairs.

I told him to open his stocking, and I told him about the guitar magazine.

As he opened his stocking I looked at the coffee table in front of me, only to find a miniature zip lock bag with three guitar picks - one was a pick with a turtle on it, I hate picks, but love turtles!! The second was just sequined shiny. That third said DAVA and had cool grips.

Samson saw me looking at this and said, "I know what Dad got you for Christmas."

"What?" I said, truly curious.

"How about you look at the presents with your eyes open!" I was used to his sarcasm.

I looked to the tree and saw clear as day: a box that was unmistakably....a guitar.

It looks like you had a really fun Christmas! Good story! I liked how you used dialog.
