The Giver

By Scooby - Posted on 08 December 2009

The Giver is a book that my teacher read aloud to the whole class. It was a very good book but it had a very strange ending to it.

This book is about a boy who is selected to be the new receiver. Jonas's job as receiver is to receive the memories that are hidden from the people in the community. The people in the community have no memories at all but one person has all the memories and that is the Giver. The people have no memories because their world is perfect. In this word the people felt no sadness, no pain, no love at all. In this word a release is when the people would inject a liquid into the person that was being released. After a while the liquid would take affect and kill the person.

Jonas is a boy who is chosen out of all the twelves to be the receiver. Jonas will be receiving memories from the Giver the next day, so he did just that, and saw the Giver the next day and received memories the next day. Then Jonas received some nice memories like love, happiness, and joy and some bad memories like war, hurt, and starve. he enjoyed the good memories a lot but he had to receive bad memories to continue his job and he loved his job a lot.

Lily is Jonas's little sister and she really wants a bike to ride. She also loves babies like Gabriel. Lily loves taking care of Gabriel by feeding him burping him and giving him baths. She really wants a bike to ride.

Gabriel is a baby who has troubles sleeping at night. At night Jonas gives Gabriel good memories to help him sleep. Because Gabriel has troubles sleeping the comity was going to release little Gabriel.

The Giver is the one who gives Jonas all his memories that he has. The Giver is a cheerful old man who is happy all the time.

You should really read this book but remember that it has a strange ending.
