Anywhere in the World

If you were given a ticket to fly anywhere in the world, where would you go? I would go to Washington state. I was there about 4 or 5 times. I would want to go there because it's beautiful, and I would like to visit my relatives.

I would first go and stay with my grandma. Then, because I would have saved all of my money, I would go to one of the best candy stores there ever was! The candy store has jaw-breakers the size of both of my fists. The candy store also has a smallish ferriswheel that has rainbow tootsierolls, and they have all the flavors.

Then I would go to the cherry orchards and pick some fresh cherries off the trees. I did that before when I was there last time; it is really fun. There are two kinds of cherries, ones with seeds, and ones without.

After that I would go and visit my uncle. He builds sculptures. He made a a metal soldier, and it was a soldier because he made a metal gun and a helmet for him. One of the cool things he did was he put a camera in his driveway, but it didn't really work.

The garden poem

I made a garden for you to see.
I planted roses for you to smell.
I grew ripe strabaries for you to taste.
I got you some birds for to hear.
I grew soft grass for you to feel.
But you did not feel my grass,
and you did not hear the birds,
and you did not taste the strabaries,
and you did not smell my roses,
and you never saw my garden.

Museum field trip

My class and I went to the Museum of the North. It was really fun and when we got there I saw a horse made out of bendy branches. We saw lots of art, but we didn't just see it we also got to listen to it too. What I mean is that there was a room that was white but there were light that made it different colors. The colors were pink, yellow, and purple. There were speakers every were and they made lots of different sounds that made me vibrat.

After the trip we took a partner and asked them 3 questions. the first question was, what was your favorite part of the trip?

She said, "I liked when we got to sit and talk about the different kinds of art."

My second question was, when you were shown the different kinds of baskets, which one did you think was the best?

She said, "I liked the basket that was made out of the whale's bristled teeth."

My last question was, what was the worst part of the trip?

She said" The beginning of the trip when they told us the rules."

The museum was fun and I will definitely go back again.

New School and a New Friend

"Ouch," Lilly said, tripping over her books. "Dumb books, why do you have to be so heavy?"

Lilly got up with her books... Wham! She crashed to the ground again.

"Sorry, I'm so clumsy." The girl said.

"No, it's not your fault I'm tripping over everything today." Lilly said still a little dizzy.

As they got up they gave their books back to each other.

"Hi, I'm Jessica"

"Hi I'm Lilly."

"So what class do you -" RING, RING, RING." Before she could finish her sentence, the bell rang.

"I have math" Lilly answered already knowing what Jessica was going to ask"

"Cool! So do I!" Jessica said with excitement.

"Really! That's great because I have no idea were I am going."

"Well first day is always the hardest."

Later, at lunch Lilly and Jessica were siting together to eat.

"Over there is the gym, and history is upstairs, and French is across the hall." Jessica explained.

"Thanks," Lilly said, with a smile.

After school Lilly said good bye to Jessica and got in the car.

"How was your first day of school?" Lilly's mom asked.

"Well it was a challenge, but I got through, my new friend helped me."

Christmas time is almost here

Christmas time is almost here, and I can't wait! I have lots of presents under my mom's tree, under my dad's tree, and maybe under my grandparent's tree. It's going to be a great, but it's going to be crazy on Christmas Eve because I have to go to Delta to open my presents from my family that lives there. My mom has to work on Christmas. How lame is that?

I have 9 or 10 presents at my mom's house. I have 4 presents at my dad's house, so my Christmas is going to be fun. I don't really care about the presents, actually. I want to give presents instead of getting a lot. Well, I don't mind getting them because it's nice to get them, but I don't care how many I get.

Leven Thumps

I'm reading Leven Thumps by Orbert Skye. It's a great book and I'm almost done. My friend is reading it, too. I have all the books, 1,2,3,4,5. Like I said, all of them. I'm on the second book, and I still have to read the others.

In the book, Leven is a boy that had a dad that died before he was born. His mom died giving birth so he was raised by his ugly mean aunt named Addy. Addy didn't care about him, so he had a bad life. Since they lived in a small house, Leven had to sleep on a toddler bunk-bed. When Leven left and came back, Addy didn't care and acted like he never was gone.

When Leven meets Clover, she is friend that helps him discover Foo. Clover is from the world of Foo, which means that he is some kind of weird creature. Clover has a special robe, he can put anything in it and it will never get full. Clover can also turn invisible and can live forever. Leven is a nit witch means he has a special power. his power is to see the future. His other friend is winter, she is also a nit, she can make things freeze.

The death of a loved one

I use to have a perfect family, a nice step dad, cool mom, a brother, and for once, a sister, fun dogs, and a great big house. But before I knew it, all of that changed.

It all started when I was about four or five years old and my brother was maybe seven. You see, my mom wasn't very rich but then she met Deric, he was probably going to be a good dad. He had everything, car, good job, house, everything except a wife. My mom was perfect for him because they liked the same things. But it wasn't only my mom's deciding, it was also me and my brother. Of course, we said yes, how could we not! He played with me, and he didn't let work come before his family.

I have still such great memories, like the time I took my mom's bright red lipstick and drew all over the walls. I had the best Christmases ever. He would buy me all the things that I would want, but I mainly wanted teapots and things like that.

But anyway back to the real story, so I asked him if he could marry my mom and the next day he did! Two weeks before the wedding it happened; he was motorcycling and then he hit a rock and fell in the ditch. Then he was gone, gone forever.

Number the Stars

Me and my class read the story Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. It was a good book, at least I thought it was good. When I started reading it I didn't like it, but now I think the book is awesome! The book's about a girl named Annemarie and her friend Ellen. They lived during World War 2.

It was really bad at the time because there was no butter, barely any meat, and no leather. Since there was no leather, Kirsti, Annemarie's little sister, had to have her shoes made of fish skins. Back in the time there were solders everywhere.

Because Annemarie's friend was a Jew, they had to take Ellen and her family to safety. When they took Ellen to safety they went to the country to stay with uncle Henrik (Annemarie's uncle). When Annemarie and Ellen lived there, they had a death, but it was a fake death. They did a fake death because they knew that the Nazies would come to see why so many people were gathering together, so that's why they pretended a death.

One Good Monday at after school Program

I love Mondays, especially at after school program. It's fun, and I love to go with my friends. We get to do many cool projects like knitting, learning about the earth, doing art projects that have to do with math, and they even help you with your homework. At my school we might do it differently, so here's how we have after school program.

First, after school we go outside, but if its too cold out then we just play in the gym. Then after about 15 minutes we line up in a line and get a snack from the box; the lady who runs the a.s.p. will check us off to see if we're here or not. She tells us about some kind of news.

After snack we go to our groups and we do some kind of activity. We have different color groups. My group was purple, but now it's pink. When we get to the right classroom we do our homework. If we finish our homework early we could play on the computer or draw. In the purple group we would stay and do something like on Monday we would knit until 4:15 and then we would switch to some other place. But in the pink group we just stay in the same room doing what I explained before, homework and something else.

Too Much TV

I read an article on how kids watch too much TV. When I read it I was amazed how many kids watch TV. 6,700 kids watch TV. From 2-5, kids of that age watch 32 hours of TV. Kids from 5-11 watch 28 hours of TV (wowsers that's a lot).

I probably watch at least 12 hours of TV a day, but hey, I also have to do homework. if this sounds interesting to you, then you can go to the article yourself at: http://www.timeforkids.com/TFK/kids/news

You can also read some other stuff every day, like news, and they have games, too.

Fly On The Wall

I think being a fly on the wall is really fun. Being a fly on the wall is when you are very quiet and you write down what you see, think, and hear. My class went through the halls of the school and our teacher dropped us off in different places. The first place I went was by a classroom on the top floor. I wrote down a list, not a story. Some of the things I wrote were,

* People walking and wispering
* laughing
* writing on the white bored

The next time I went I was near the library right by the door in the corner. I decided to write a story this time, and I made it really funny (in my opinion). The last one was downstairs on a bench by the gym. I made each story different as you can tell so I made this one into a list/story. If you think being a fly on the wall is cool then you should try it, just grab a pencil and a note book or just a piece of paper and go somewhere, where ever it may be, and just write down what you see and hear.

The goliath bird-eating tarantula

According to "Frightful Animals" in National Geographic I think the coolest animal was the Goliath Bird -eating tarantula. This big scary spider is bigger than your foot !

Fall

Fall, what a beautiful time. the the water freezes, and the leaves change from green to yellow to brown. The rainbow hills and the cloudy sky will soon fade away to white, nothing but white. Nothing but the white sky. Winter is nothing but white. But soon will be the end of the white winter.

My weekends

I do lot of stuff on my weekend. Last Saturday I went camping with my family. It It was really fun! We got a nice spot rite by the water. On Sunday my friends, family, and I went berry picking. I love weekends. I think they are so fun and cool. Saturday is one of my favorite days.

school

Hi, I'm Dawnstar. I'm new to Denali school. Everything is great here. I have a friend and a really nice teacher. I live so close I can walk. The hardest part of school is waking up in the morning. My mom had to drag me out of my bed and I almost fell asleep in math class and at recess. I'm really going to like it here.
