I'm writing about a goddess named Aphrodite. She is the goddess of love, beauty and fertility. She was also a protectress of sailors. She is my favorite, because she represents kindness as well. At least thats what I think anyway. Her Roman name was Venus. Some say she was born from sea-foam others say she was the daughter of Zeus and Dione. I personally think that Aphrodite was the daughter of Zeus and Dione.

Spaghetti looks like string because how long it is. It tastes like tomato sauce. It smells a little funny. And it feels so slimy, warm, squishy, and warm. And I like spaghetti.

I love my grandma. I love spending the night at my grandma's. I also love her food.

My grandam has probably cooked everything. My grandma cooks with a lot of Mexican style stuff. Probably because most of my grandma and my grandpa are Mexican and, Indian. She cooks with a lot of peppers and garlic. Usually on special occasions she makes her special salsa, and her special stuffed peppers. My grandma has baked, fried, broiled, grilled, smoked, dehydrated, jarred, and pickled! She's probably done more!

My favorite thing that she makes is pickled stuff. You could pickle food by saving your pickle juice that you get at grocery stores, and then putting some type of food in the juice, then letting it sit for about 30 days. Usually my grandma puts, carrots, garlic, boiled eggs, and green beans. She also puts like Hot Chilly peppers I the pickle juice with her carrots and green beans. Oh man! I was on those carrots like a hobo on a hot dog! See thats the kind of thing we rednecks say!

It smells sour and tastes sour because of what is in the juice. One of the main ingredients is vinegar. I also like it because it's a finger food. You only have to use a fork to get the food out of the jar. I also like the texture of it. It's not soft. Except the boiled eggs.

Now you can only put certain food in the pickle juice. As you saw from my list that it is mostly veggies. I love eating food that is pickled!

My least favorite food is probably squid. If you haven't tried it yet, don't.

One of the reasons I do not like squid is is because of the smell, it makes me nauseous. Another reason I don't like it is the texture. It still has the suction cups on it and it feels like rubber. The last reason I don't like it is because of the taste. It tastes nasty! I feel like I am trying to eat a bouncy ball. When you bite down, your jaw just bounces right back up. It is as if the squid has a mind of its own and is deciding to not to be eaten. I've only had it once, but that was plenty for me!

Food I don't like. I don't like pasta at all. I just think it's really nasty. My mom, America, told me to try pasta one day, and it was nasty. I will never eat it again. Whenever I stay at my Uncle Robert's house, he makes pasta because that's his favorite food, and he asked me if I like pasta. I said no. He said well you haven't tasted how I make my pasta. And I say, "No Tio. I don't like pasta at all." And Tio is uncle is Spanish. The reason why I don't like pasta is because it tastes like creamy noodles. Most people will say, Why is that nasty? I really don't know why it is, I just don't like it. Most of my family like pasta. I don't see how they can eat it. That's just nasty.

My favorite food is sushi. Sushi tastes like a lot of things, like fish, crab, and seaweed. In my eyes it looks like a blob of fish and seaweed, but it tastes really good. Sushi is as good as a chocolate bar to me. It smells like a bunch of vanilla room sprays. On the outside of the roll is some seaweed. Just inside that is some fish. And in the center is some more seaweed. Sushi is my favorite food because it tastes great.

The food I hate the most is onions. They are so mean. They make you cry because of the smell. They feel crunchy, it's like you're eating bones. They look like purple balls. One time I tried one and I almost cried, and I almost threw up. Whenever someone offers me one, I just say, "No thanks," or "I'm not hungry," even if I am starving. I suggest you not try one if you have not already.

My number one fave food is my Grandma's homemade enchiladas. They are sooooooo good! She makes them from scratch so its filled with lots of different ingredients. They taste almost as good as ice cream. They look like heavenly tortilla with enchilada sauce. They smell like Mexico. They feel rough, slimy and rectangular. They are the BEST food EVER!!!!!!!!

Hey guys, it's me Reecie. I miss you guys so, so much. It's so hard to believe, but I moved back to Anchorage. I've been doing really well in school, well kinda...Haha, but anyways, I hope to hear back from you and I might visit, but I'm not sure...I'll have to talk to my dad and mom.

Here is a little inside of Hades he is the ruler of the underworld. Hades ruled over the dead. Hades is the greedy god and didn't let anyone leave the underworld. Hades abducted his wife Persephone.

Today we are learning about Greek gods and how to use html tags to make words bold.

Right now I'm going through these bookmarks and I found this site that was really cool. It's a family tree of the gods. I found out a lot; like how the gods started with Chaos, god of nothingness. It is a really cool site. Check it out.

Today we are learning how to post links and websites and I've decided I wanted to post a link to a short story based on Homer's Odyssey. Ta-da! What do you think? I like it. It's a pretty blue.

I am learning about Greek mythology. The site I was on I found helpful so I'm going to tell you what it is. The site is The Olympians. It had all of the gods and goddesses. It was a really big help to find out ancient greek gods.

I am Charnette. I run Charnette's ice cream store. There are flavors in my freezer you have never seen before. Five divine creations too delicious to resist. Why not do yourself a favor. Try the flavors on my list:

Now, some of you who don't really know me don't know that my dad is on a TV show called "The Deadliest Catch". Its about people on boats who go crab fishing in Alaska. Its on the Discovery channel. My dad was on 3 boats. "The Time Bandit" first few seasons; "The Wizard" two seasons ago; and "The Kodiak" last and I think this season. He's most famous for The Time Bandit, though. One time he even saved a guy's life! His name is Russell Newberry. If you've seen the show before, you might know that he got fired then rehired, and now we don't know what's going on.

Another thing about my dad, is that he takes me places for a month or two every summer. We always go to Tennessee and New Jersey. I used to live in Tennessee so I get to see a lot of friends and my grandparents live there, so that works out really well. We go to New Jersey because my dad knows a friend there who has a girl my age named Sarah. They have a big, big house and a dog and 3 cats. They also have a big pool, and whenever we visit there we go to an amusement park. Usually Six Flags. In Tennessee I stay at one of my best friends' house. Her name is Kinsley. I've known her 7 years of my life.

Its rea'lly fun going with my dad to many places. Ive been to around 18 or 20 states. Somewhere in there (:

I'm reading the Harry Potter books, and they are so much better than the movies. The movies help you get a better image, but they leave out a lot, which I can understand because if they used EVERY single detail the movie would be like 8 hours long. They are one of my favorite series of books I've ever read. It really makes me wonder what's going on in the writer's head if she can make up all of this stuff, you know?

The first book was good, and childish, but as you go on it's like seeing these people you don't even know grow up inside your head. When a character dies you feel like you know them so you feel sad. Maybe that's just me? I don't know, but when you get around the 3rd to 4th book, you see that they are not kids anymore. They grow up and do things differently from when they were 11. Or when something good happens you feel all happy.

It's definitely one of my favorite series I've read because you feel like you're meeting all of these people. You get a feel for them.

I love to sing even though I can't do it in front of people. I love to draw even though I'm embarrassed of my drawings. I love to dance even if I'm not that good at it. I love to climb trees even though I always get scratched up. I love to swim even though I have big ears and they stick out a lot. I love to play tag even though I'm always it. I love to type even though people say I'm on the computer too much. I love to write even though I would never publish many of my stories. I love to run even though I get made fun of for it.

The point of this is of you love to do something, just do it. No matter what people say. No matter what people do. If it makes YOU happy, then go for it. It doesn't matter what the people around you think. It only matters what you think. (:

One time I was at my house and the power went out. So my family and I just lit some candles so we could see without tripping. But the candles didn't work that well because I was walking to the living room and I tripped. The power was out for like ten minutes. Then it started getting pretty cold because there was no electricity. I just grabbed a blanket and sat on the couch and waited for the power to come back on.

Then finally it came back on. It felt so long, like the Nile River. The next day we found out why it went out. Someone ran into a power pole and knocked it over. I hope it never happens again. It was so boring.

Cold weather in Alaska is frustrating. It also has its complications. Like every state, they have their own problems. Alaska has some too, and that is the cold weather. People who are not from Alaska say it's 40 below zero even though it is only 10 below zero. I had a family member from Texas come to visit. When we found her she was shivering, teeth clattering and everything, and you want to know why? SHE WAS WEARING SHORTS!! So here is my aunt walking through the airport with shorts on with 20 below weather. Everyone was staring at her funny, like she was crazy or something.

It was kind of funny when we got home. She was chewing us out because we didn't tell her that it was reaching below zero. Since the road was slippery on our drive home, my aunt was scared to drive anywhere. And when we did, she would squeal every time we made a turn. On our way to the airport my aunt found out she had frostbite on her toes. After we dropped her off we headed back to the car. When my mom tried to start it, it didn't start. We had to stand there a half hour in the cold until someone helped us get it started so we could get home.

It was Saturday December 22nd when I was playing one of my games. I was finishing lots of levels on my game. It was 10 clock and I was still playing my game, and my mom was playing a card game on the computer when it hit. At 10:05 the unexpected happened. The POWER WENT OUT. It happened Everywhere: the TV, my mom's computer, my TV, and the wii and Xbox. When all of that happened
I freak out. When it was pitch black in the house, I went like, WHAT THE HECK? and ran out of the room. And when I ran 2 steps I
tripped on a soft thing. It was Rex my pet dog; she sometimes sits
by the door and waits for me to play with her.

I talk to my mom. She said this power is going to be out for hours. It was 11:30 and the power was sill out. I started to get cold. I put two blankets on me. I HATE IT WHEN THE POWER GOES OUT because it gets really cold. When it was about to get colder the power got back on again and I was happy it's back, and everything went back on again.

And the cool thing the power went on the exact moment at
12:00 clock that was a kinda cool because everything happens at 12:00 clock. I was happy that the power was back on. I just HOPE it won't happened again.

When your pipes bust it's really bad because you can't use any type of water. You can't take showers, wash your hands, or use the bathroom. There are good things about that, though. You don't have to do the dishes and other things. I was really mad because I couldn't get all freshened up in the morning.

The way we figured out our pipes busted was when we were driving into my driveway, people were working across the street(construction workers). Me and my brother just sat in the car for a second. My dad went over to talk to the workers. He was asking what had happened. They told him a pipe had busted. I never had that happen to my house before, so I didn't know what was going on. My dad told me and my brother what had happened. He said there was no water working. I didn't believe him so when I was in the bathroom I turned the knob to the sink, hoping water would come out. Nothing did.

I was very mad because I was all sweaty from practice that night. I could not go to sleep without taking a shower so I went downstairs. I took a few bottles of water, filled it up in a pot, boiled it, and poured it in the bathroom. It was very hot but I didn't want to waste anymore bottles. The next morning the water was back on and it was a regular day again.

A couple weeks ago our car's transmission broke and we have to drive 30 to 35 mph. It's slow and stupid but we're never late for some reason. Our car is old and we might get a new one. I hope we get a new one. Ours is a Mercury. They're teamed with Ford. I HATE FORDS! Do you know what Ford stands for?

I woke up on a cold November morning to a freezing house! I went downstairs, bundled in blankets and warm clothes, to see what was happening. We were out of fuel. For most of the day we sat covered in blankets on the couch. My Dad decided that it was way too cold for us to stay at home, so he took us to his office where it was warm!

Everyone was really over-heating because we all had long sleeves and wool socks on, so we were burning up! Our sweaters and extra socks came off. After about two hours of burning up, chasing my little brother, and watching three year old shows, my Dad came back.

He had tried calling the fuel company but they said it was too short of a notice, then he found out he could go get fuel at a gas station. Luckily he called a friend and found out that the fuel he was going to get would have started a fire. So he had to go get special fuel, that is what had taken so long.

After all of this our house was finally warm!

One day my mom and my brother and I were watching t.v. and it got really cold in our house. So my mom went to go turn up the heater, and I was still cold. So my mom called our landlord and he said that he would be at the house in about a few minutes. So the landlord came and went wear the pipes were, and all he did was push a red button for a few seconds, and he told my mom that it would take a few minutes for the heater to work again.

So a week later me my mom and my brother leave the the store and we came back home, and the heat went out again. And my mom called the landlord and he said he will be there. And he came and pushed the red button, and it didn't work, so he called some people that fix the heaters, and they said that something busted and he had to replace it.

So we stayed somewhere else for a few days. The landlord called my mom and said that we can go back to the house. So we did, and after a day the house got cold again. So my mom called the landlord AGAIN the landlord said, "Oh I forgot to put the other piece on so the heater would work. So he had to come back over and put it on. But the house smelled like oil really bad, and the only place that was warm was my mom's room.

So we stayed in there until the house got fixed and didn't smell like oil no more. And it didn't after a few hours. And ever since then the house hasn't messed up any more.

One year my parents said that we were going to take a family vacation to go visit both of my great grandmas. One of them was in California and the other was in Alabama. The first stop was at my mom's grandma's house. We call her Grandma GG. It was fun because she lived next to a water park. The next stop was at my dad's grandma's house.

One day while we were there we went to a golfcourse. It was a clear and sunny day. While we were there a storm started. We were going to stay and wait out the storm but dad told us it was time to go. The storm sounded like a lion yelling at us. When we got into the car dad buckled up my brother and we left.

We were about 10 miles out of town when the lightning started. It almost hit us. I was so scared I started to hide under my blanket in the car it was so scary when we got back to town I went straight to bed and did not com out until the next morning.

On Monday was Martin Luther King Jr. Day (MLK day). If you don't know who Martin Luther King is (which you probably do), then I'll tell you. He was a man who had a dream about Blacks and Whites coming together in peace. His speech, "I Have a Dream", was very very popular. Some people didn't agree with him, while others thought he was amazing.

I totally agree with his message. Another person who was very strong about Blacks and Whites coming together was Rosa Parks, the lady who had tried to sit at the front of the bus with the Whites. She spoke out against all these people, just like MLK.

They are really truly inspiring for standing up to these people who were thinking so arrogantly about themselves. Thinking they were better than other people just because of their skin color. It would be like me saying I hated you and your lower than me because you have red hair. Its so stupid! These people are very brave. Martin Luther King stood up to a lot of people. The whole USA! Monday was a day to recognize his greatness.
